Can't miss me if I'm there, on the black 80's 'lo-pro' looking Condor with carbon front forks ("it's not a lo-pro cos it's a 700c front" they cry) with shitty training wheels (running yellow/black Vittoria Corsa's)and white shoes and tape.

Oh that's you! Very nice Condor, you bought it on here no? I am the guy with the Dolan Track Champ with Chinese Carbon rear from the student sessions. Will say hi next time, although very busy with Exams at the moment so next time might be a while :(

Yep same, got my deadline in a few weeks, so shouldn't actually be doing track til I have all work sorted.
Actually I got it from the user here, but through his ebay auction, and built it up in December I think. Still meaning to get some better wheels before it's 'complete', but I quite like the bombproof ones I have at the moment.
Cool yea say hey!

Yea I think I'm the only one crazy enough to sit for two hours on such an aggressive geo. Been going most weeks since November, so say hey if you see me :)

Damn good point about the TT protector! I'd be gutted if my TT got dented.

True, a bike is for life and not just for Christmas.

Not if I totally fuxxxor it in a crash ... :/

Why are all the training accreditations full... Sad times (but only for me).
-

You can ask the same morning during your track skills if they have an extra space if someone cancelled, you would have to just turn up and pay.
Otherwise it is a pain, not before end june or even july now i guess

Was anyone on here down at the basic skills sesh today??
-
• #3663
Was at the session just before but saw 1/4 of your one before to leave, was chatting in the middle of the track. Well it was another dodgy intermediary session for us with few fairly dangerous people on the track. I could see few guys very unsteady, waving dangerously without looking, speed up slow down action and so on....
I guess with the new training accreditation today, probably going to be the same for few weeks going forward. -

Was at basics yesterday, was a fairly fun session. What were you riding?
-
• #3665
I was on the Cinelli Mash - you??

Ill-fitting Giant Omnium. I'll keep an eye out for you tomorrow if you're there.

My session today was brought to an early end by a broken cleat. Nearly new pair of Shimano's (which I've always used without problems) so I was very pee'd off. At least one coach was clearly suspicious that I was some sort of moron bringing crappy equipment to the track.

@StephenC Aaaah so that is why you disappeared and couldn't see you at the end of the second hour!! At least no accident, I guess that is why you unclipped during the seated acceleration. The end was much faster but still very dodgy move everywhere so i've been riding far away from few guys in front of me. Wind picked up a bit and was sometime tough to hold a perfect line with the 88mm.

Been so busy with the degree show (free booze evening thurs 6pm at LCC, E&C). That I've missed out for weeks.
Talk of wobbly riders makes me less disappointed, and a little worried it's gonna be summer riders by the time I'm back.

To the guy in the skinsuit today, this is the Charlie on the Cinelli - message me!
-
• #3672
Was a much steadier session this time, i really enjoyed that. Weather was great even if wind was too much for the 88mm wheels. @youramericanlover nice to see you again mate, soon you will pull the group 2 or 3 laps at the front!!! Nice kit LFGSS btw ;-)

I'm just about to do accreditation on the York velodrome, and start league next week. I'm fully expecting there to be crashes during league because of the amount of inexperienced riders, as the velodrome has only been open a few months - I'm including myself in this...
Possibly stupid question here but I'm pretty sure the rules stipulate two layers, in case of crashing, but is that likely to make a difference on concrete? I was planning on a light base layer (to keep me cool) and a jersey. I seem to think HHV are a bit stricter on having arms covered, so is it a case of LS jerseys, base layers or arm warmers?
For the 10 or so training sessions I've been to I've always had arms and legs out and the coach has never mentioned it, so I may just keep seeing if I can get away with it - is this going to lead to unnecessary pain in a crash though?
Ta.

It does make some difference. It's still going to hurt, but you might lose less skin.
If you're expecting crashes, try to stay at the front - or just off the back of the group and somewhere between the red and the blue (ready to swing up the top of the track when you hear the noise). That way if there is a crash, you've got a fighting chance of riding over the top of it. If it happens behind you, don't look back.

Windy today. Wonderfully warm though.
Every man and his dog wants to be your friend when you've got a decent track pump with you!
And tks for all the best wishes guys, feel free to say hi if you see me, always have my trusty TK2 with pro vide sprinter drop or soon my new carbon with S80 (was going to take it 2 weeks ago...pff i avoided a good crash to the bike).
That crash made me invest in proper top tube protector, found those very good and cheap (for Mountain bike but do the job perfectly):
