There's little things I forgot about riding fixed. I hadn't actually ridden fixed for about 20 months... been on the Robin Mather (with a Rohloff) or the Serotta (with gears) or the Cielo (singlespeed).
The best little thing... the silence. The blissful silence. No freewheel, no ratchets of the planetary gears, no whir of the derailleur. Just silence.
I also missed the one gear thing... want to go faster? Pedal faster. Want to slow down? Pedal slower. It's weird how immediately peaceful it is, and I'm so glad it's only 74 gear inches this time as the Bob Jackson used to be 79 and always felt a bit much. I just cruised around like it was 2007. Rolled home in the sun.
It's a great bike, responsive, snappy, and I think the colour works.
Photos tomorrow... I failed to take any, I was riding.
Rode home.
It's a blast.
