Wanted: Small ladies road bike

Posted on
  • Looking for a bike to get the gf started in cycling. She's about 5' 3", based near Brighton but in London regularly. Lighter the better due to hilly surroundings but anything considered. Cheers

  • Would you consider a frame and wheels to build into a bike? I have the following small Peugeot and good quality wheels for sale

I also potentially have most if not all parts for a complete build

    Regards
    Ed

  • Thanks Ed - unfortuately don't have time or space for a build project atm so looking for a complete bike. Nice frame though!

  • Are you looking for something recent or a vintage (steel) bike?

    Wim

  • Open to either - a relaxed riding position is probably the key factor as she's a beginner who needs to build confidence on the road. Step-through frame would be ideal...

  • This is superb, lovely ride, easy gearing fitted...

  • I've got this Gitane I've being holding for a lady friend for almost a year...grrrr
51cm c-t/52cm c-c top tube Cromoly frame, with a possible floor to top of saddle of 34.5" this should be fine for 5ft 3 up to 5ft 7

Hardly used Stronglight 48/38 c/set though could swap for a Sakae 46/36, Bottom bracket has being serviced and is smooth with no axle play. SR quill pedals in good shape, 700C Weinmann alloys on Pelissier Brevete QR chromed hubs run smooth & true and not much wear. New ITM stem, set back/riser alloy bars. Madison Reflex saddle which is sort of a suspension type due to the rail system (very comfortable it is too)
Stem friction shifters, Sachs Huret derailleurs, Suntour 5 speed, Weinmann sidepulls which are decent stoppers.(ignore the rear shimano which was put on for a test)
New SKS mudguards (good for up to 38mm tyres)
All in she's 10.5kg give or take so pretty light for the type and the kit fitted.
There are gear cable stops on the downtube so you could if wanted to convert to STIs (flat or road)
£175 collected North Herts, I could dismantle and post for £15

  • Couple of beauties there! Interested in the Gitane, PM incoming...

  • If you are still looking I am selling this:

Motobecane Nomade mixte road bike. It's in great condition, everything working on it really well. A great bike for flying round the city or getting out for longer rides. It features:

    Medium size ladies steel frame
    New bottom bracket
Top mount and drop brake positions
    Michelin tyres (front is new)
12 speed drivetrain, all in great working order
Brand new Shimano brake pads and cables
    Comfy Selle Italia saddle
I also have a rear pannier rack and a rear basket which I can add in for no extra cost, its a handy way to carry a lock around.

If you have any questions, or if you want to come and have a look at it please don't hesitate to ask. Looking for £120, open to sensible offers.

    PM me if interested.
