• Hmm what to hang off this on a tight budget after i've got rid of the TT gubbins...

  • Nice. A quill stem, some classic(ish) drop bars, brake levers and you're almost done. Different wheels at some point.

  • Love those Coppi's!

  • got it for a good price and was just going to pick up some cheap parts to get in back in road trim but it's actually really nice and in better nick than i thought.

tt bars removed, yes looking for quill stem and classic bars. torn between procuring some shimano sti's and getting it running quickly on those wheels, or going for a period campag groupset/wheels. maybe the former for now, and look out for the latter for the longer term...

  • Very nice!

  • You should stick it in the Coppi thread too. It's a lonely place in there waiting for WimVDD to get his frame.

  • Next monday I'm going to The Netherlands and pick it up. Negative side of that: I'll probably have to dismantle (or sell) one of my other bikes because I've got no more room to store another complete bike...

    Wim

  • Dismantling sounds like the best option. :)

  • Indeed but maybe I just have to sell the bikes that aren't my size anyway. Creates some more (financial) possibilities for building up the Coppi. ;-)

  • Well, if they're not your size that may also be a good idea!

  • Campag ergopowers aren't that rare, they pop up regularly in the classifieds section. Anything below Chorus is pretty affordable too.

  • Given the frame a once over clean/couple spots touched up, got some 105 wheels locally for cheaps, Dura Ace cassette, Ultegra STI's, ITM stem, Flite, ordered some tyres, just need some bars, bar tape and then can cable up and finish off.

Cheap quick build to get it running, see how it rides, then long term would like a Campag build and am keeping my eye out to source some bits, already got some skeleton brakes and the craanks are Campy.

  • Up and running and first ride on it earlier tonight. Would like to gradually move it over to Campag if I keep it. Thanks to @majsterjanek & @ssswinton for supplying some parts.

  • Great job there! Those parts look much better there than sulking in my cellar. For the future, personally, I'd go older Campag pre ergopower or newer Shimano 9 speed or above. Just saying...

  • Great! Don't mind about what groupset to put on it, every groupset will look good on a frame like that!

  • Different wheels now (destickered Velomax Vista) but am actually dismantling this and selling all the Shimano gear as I have most of a Campag groupset now. However, I also have a carbon Look KG361 frameset so it's a toss up which I will build up and maybe I will have to move a frame on or just store it, we'll see.
