The levers have been set as I would position brake (not Ergo/STi) levers on a classic bend bar: tips level with the drops, so that they are usable when in the hooks.
However that sites the body of Ergo/STi too far down the bar, so all your weight is on the hoods (and the web twixt thumb and forefinger), rather than on the ramps.
Ergo/STi are designed for a flat transition from horizontal ramps; the classic bend dates from long before anyone rode on the hoods.
Either way, I'd want those bars rotating up: like that, my wrists would be bent back and I find it more comfortable to have the arm and wrist in a straight line.
I agree that Noodles are a good compromise though: I have SRAM S500 on DA AX, which works nicely.
I though it was comfortable, reckon it depend on your hand I guess.
