  • Hah no it's getting a disc brake and the screw will be fixed. There is still a lot to do before it is dog ready don't you worry.

Also if it doesn't work re handling or I don't feel it's safe then I would get something else, bullit bike fund has already started

  • Hey Lfgss

Some of you may know I'm building a french track frame with french forks... I found a headset but lbs just called me saying that the bottom crown race is too thin and wont last long...

Any idea around this? I asked them to measure it for me and let me know the size so I can research a way around it.

    Thanks in advance.

  • And actually having just met a fully grown frenchie it would be far too big so would just be for the first few months anyway

  • Phew. I thought I was going to have to fight you at a game of biek for a while. Cute dog btw, how old is he/she?

I really want a Bullit Bike, for family duties, but I doubt our dog would sit still in it and my son is growing so quick it doesn't seem worth it. Although, it would definitely help transport beer around...

  • If you split the dog between two panniers, the balance will be better. Compression sacks also help.

  • Njs frame and french part.....

  • heh well I appreciate the concern, I can assure you the dogs safety will be prioritised above anything else... Last post was missing a few deets I admit, rack is on to see fit and ect

He is 9 weeks and I have another 2 and a bit weeks until he can go outside so I have a little while to get it all sorted.

Need to get a disc fork / get disc tabs welded to fork. Lower the gearing, secure rack and build a holder that is safe for him. Going to modify a bag that I have until he gets too big. Theeeen bullit bike or similar

@Thomas63 super cool man, want to check out your bike collection sometime

  • Nice job! Front wheel needs to be flipped though (quick release on non drive side).

Which headset did you end up using?

  • Cheers! Oops i never knew that!

I just ended up keeping the Campagnolo headset that was on it when i got it, it seems fine for now

  • crossposting from the racks thread because its silent in there and all the talk is rack in here..

anybody any experiences with those nimrod adventurer front racks?
looks quite nice for the beater purpose i have in mind and is cheepz. its impossible to google mounted. also, any idea of measurements?

many thanks in advance my fellow brethren in rackluv

  • Definitely my favourite of yours. Did the sizing match what NJS export said in the end?

And now put risers and big tyres on your bmw please.

  • Not fan of the saddle and drops setup but fuckmoi that's hot !!!
    Headset ,saddle ?

  • HEAD set i ll change for a njs, saddle i don't know

  • My bike building on the budget keeps improving, here is the progress on the (Zombie) Montagner build. My friend didn't want the frame to be ratty so the initial plane was car fiber kit and powdercoat. The powdercoater didn't want to do the job because of the repair kit, so we progressed with the rattle can job.

Very impressed with the 10 Euro wheelset (20mm inner width of the rim carrying 7 Euro 23mm Zafiros from PlanetX)

    Max pressure!

  • P.S. Question for the mechanics!
I know it is a bad idea but:

1" threaded fork + threaded headset (just the cap, no locknut) + starnut + shim + 1 1/8" a-head stem > to do (epic win considering the 2.50 € stem) or not to do (epic fail considering the teeth repair costs)?

EDIT: The fork steerer is CrMo!

  • If you need to ask the question you know the answer

  • I know it is a bad idea

    Answered your own question there.

Ahead stems load the steerer differently from quills, and that load plus the handy stress raising grooves of the thread will lead to a parting of the ways fairly quickly.

  • Thanks, I guess we'll have to invest in an adapter. I was looking for someone to reassure my stupidity :)

  • Cool! Hope to see here if you manage to lower it.

    Pls...

Also is it a big deal if the steerer doesn't stick out too much? If I can safely bodge the crown race thing, will a tiny bit of thread on the fork and stem wedge be enough to use it safely?

  • What does he mean when he says the crown race is "too thin"?
