I know it is a bad idea but:
1" threaded fork + threaded headset (just the cap, no locknut) + starnut + shim + 1 1/8" a-head stem > to do (epic win considering the 2.50 € stem) or not to do (epic fail considering the teeth repair costs)?
Ahead stems load the steerer differently from quills, and that load plus the handy stress raising grooves of the thread will lead to a parting of the ways fairly quickly.
