  • hainanese chicken

  • ^ :( so hungry right now

  • i need food i have an avacado and anchovies

  • i want to go to TURKEY

  • Mrs is out. I'm making wings again. Wiiiiings.

  • been on the search for good turkish food in NY, esp lahmacun with lamb

Mands, that looks like it but think they call it something different in Jen cafe, great lunch time food light fresh tasty

  • Since you're asking:

A dozen big wings from The Buchery in F'Hill (£4).
Trimmed and soaked in brine for an hour.
Dried and tossed in flour seasoned with paprika, salt and dried garlic.
On a rack in the oven at 180 for about 50 mins.
Then tossed in Franks Red Hot Sauce and melted butter.

Couldn't be arsed to make blue cheese dip so I bought a tub. Am having them with home made chips (also of the oven roasted variety) and four strong dark ales.

I should be working on a commission but I can't think about anything but the wiiiiiiings...

  • Wiiiiiiiiiings my kryptonite too had the best ones i have had last week at a korean palace, (Bonchon) korean fried chicken who knew !! spicy crispy tender goodness

  • that sounds good pics please!

  • will see if I can bring myself to pause the guzzling long enough to snap them.

  • just a pile of bones then!

  • that may be the place, my memory of it is kinda hazy, it was chinese new year, I was starving, it was full, I sat down and shovelled dumplings into my mouth like a dying man.

    Lovely though.

"working from town" tomorrow so will check out your recommendation and @RichG's as well..

@mands if you haven't been to mama lan in brixton market, try them out, they also have a new larger restaurant in clapham

  • i just found me some cheeeese

did not know we had this

  • I asked the guy there to bring some down ages ago... Trust him to wait til I leave to get them in!!! :(

  • Not great tbh. Too salty and too much raw heat, not enough juicy flavour. Too much salt in the soak and flour possibly too much paprika. Maybe too much butter in the sauce too (or not enough temperature) which caused the sauce to stick to the wings too much so instead of a light, drippy coating , each one was like eating a mouthful of congealed super charged salty hot sauce. Worst wings I ever made.

Still, I've got beer. And chips. Can't taste either but hey...

  • awwwwww shame, next time, its gutting when it dont work out esp when you have the craving for wiiiiiings.

  • @RichG thanks for the Jen cafe recommend, dumplings were lovely, their chilli oil is killer hot though. Not bad value either £6 for the fried dumplings...
    Will go again.

  • nice one Corney, its a good little place try that chicken dish next time, no frills cafe styles and that chilli oil is lethal! from what i remember the bbq pork and roast pork is good too. Glad you liked it

  • Jesus Corny that pic made my stomach shout at me. Want want want.

  • Are you sure? Looks suspiciously like the coat I would wear as a young'un working on Tescos deli counter. What is the surprise cheese?

  • What is the surprise cheese?

    Hygiene issues?

  • Oh what does the brine do?

Oh and how salty? Warm water?

  • Are we talking the plate or the crap on it.

  • What is the surprise cheese?
    Hygiene issues?

    Not being Jewish?
