I am pretty sure warranty for iPhones are regional, so if it goes tits up, you wouldn't be covered.
Besides, if you bought it from Apple UK directly, you are covered by the UK comsumer rights law / Sale of goods act, wich essentially gives you 6 years protection, but you would have to buy from Apple UK directly as they have the be the original seller. I have had iPhones totally out of warranty that were replaced because of the laws.
