• fyi on top setting i run with 1500 lumens but fortunately i can dim this to 400 ish i guess

  • I used to run a 300 lumen when on the front or bombing downhill then drop it to 50-100 lumen when in the pack. Last thing you want is the brightness of a million suns bouncing of the arse of the person in front, especially if they have any retro reflective on them. Screws your night vision and creates shadows for the people in front whereby they cannot see the dimly illuminated road directly in front of them for the super bright road either side.

I'm currently running 90 lux which I reckon is close to what my 300 lumen kicked out but with better light distribution.

50 quid will pick up a good 300 lumen light.

  • Pants
Not back in London until the Thursday

  • So to prevent the brightness of a million suns bouncing off the arse of the person in front, do you have the option to reduce the 400 lumens of the joystick mk 8 that fussballclub linked to?

70 squid is more than I wanted to spend on something I'll only use on a handful of evening rides per season. At the same time, the second hand ones are going for over 30 quid on ebay... might as well stretch to 70 and get full warranty etc.

  • Buy that light. It does twelve hours on the lower setting which gets me through a night in the countryside and it lasts a week on one charge commuting, but best of all never any fault. Every light I bought before was money wasted.

  • Starfish, you say that. I bpiught my hope some years ago. Its probably the best most useful bit of kit that's consistently brought smiles.

  • That or my turbo trainer,

  • I'm sure LudWhich?'s recommendation is a good one. He does put in the miles.

  • That or my turbo trainer,

    Pervert.

  • Just in case any of you are around, I'm looking to do some miles, hopefully 50/60+ probably somewhere in Essex or Kent from around 4:45 starting Liverpool St tomrrow. Well anyway I kick out work at 4:30 and work near LVRPST so if you fancy it or something we can either meet up or I could pick you up on my way out to whereever I/we end up going - though I'm thinking Roydon as for me it would be 25 out, 35 around and 25 back which is about what I'm thinking, though I need to be home for about 10, 10:30ish. gimme a shout if so

  • Could do a ride but might have to be a little shorter, quick one out to Richmond Park?

  • Ah @PQR does sounds nice but have the whole evening so looking to get in few more miles. It's also a bit of shlepp to get to and from RP for me. But hopefully see you soon at track?

  • So. Wednesday then?

  • When the time is right the mysterious controller will let us know her decision.

  • We spoke to the controller at last nights seance, formerly known as Norfs.

Apparently following a democratic voting process overseen by international observers from North Korea and Zimbabwe there was a landslide decision where 85% of the eligible votes cast were in favour of Kent 2.
    Votes for = 595
    Votes against = 105
    Spoiled ballots = 16
    Total votes cast = 1

  • i need some slowies so I can join :)

  • I'm in Tika!

  • Oi @Chalfie, are you coming tonight? This was all set up for you...

    https://www.lfgss.com/events/779/newest/

  • I think we need to continue the discussion @youramericanlover started. Are our rides getting passed over because of the way the forum is set up? Is there a better way of publicising them? Is there something wrong with the rides themselves? Is it the fig rolls that put people off?

  • I fucking love fig rolls (and the rides are awesome too).

  • Yes. Your rides are getting passed over because they're not in rides and whathave you.

I've only just been alerted to tonight's ride by you @ing me.

(even though I sort of knew it was on)
(i'm negotiating out of a trip to Ikea right now)

  • Where we widing on Wednesday?

  • Potters bar, feel free to post the event up. I'd get the controller to do it but that means tracking down the pub/McDonald's/chippy they are currently in.
