• Hello,

I need to replace my rear wheel. My bike is a Gazelle Champion Mondial AA, with a Sachs New Success groupset. Previously I have used wheels with a 7 speed uni-glide cassette. I'm wondering if I can buy a different wheel with a screw on 7 speed cassette for example? Or will this then throw out the spacing?

    Any help much appreciated.

  • Sachs new sucess was designed around 5mm Sprocket spacing for 7 or 8 speed(up to 1997) 1998 and after it was desined around 4.8mm sprocket spacing for 8 speed. 7 speed shimana has 5mm sprocket spacing which is whynit works for you.,post 1998 sach shifters works with shimano 8 speed cassettes.

  • Thanks for the response, does this mean that I can use a wheel with a screw on 7 speed shimano cassette? I ask because wheels with screw on cassettes are easier to find (and cheaper) than trying to source a wheel with a uni-glide cassette. Thanks.

  • Yes you can do that.
