This bike looks rad! '653 all terrain' sounds like a tubeset and a half.

What even is it? Is it a cross frame?

Are these 26" wheels?

@Zebra_Cyclist @Banana753 sorry guys and anyone else who pm'd for the late reply, I've been in cardiff, I will be via London tomorrow and the bike is actually in Canada water at the moment before I take it back to Suffolk Friday morning. I will reply to pms. Anyone who's interested and can make it to Canada water around 12pm-1pm is welcome to check it out.
@dfp the wheels are 650c but could probs fit 26.
@Skülly I think the frame was initially custom built for cross bike for someone who was 5"5.

After buying this bike, being very pleased with it and taking it on the Tweed Run Recce I realised what was wrong with the brakes which do not work too well. 26" wheels have been fitted when the frame was built for 650 wheels the difference is only 12mm but the 6mm at the brake blocks makes all the difference.
Thinking about converting the brakes to calliper brakes anyone any advice on how I could do this? -

hey dude, the wheels and frame and brakes were all originally put together from new... I bought it from the guy who had the frame custom built... it should all fit fine and was fine from all the time I had it... but i did notice the pads were about half way worn, replacing with new ones would make better contact?

@Charlie33 don't get me wrong I love the bike and the wheels but the brakes do not fit you can get the pads to engage properly with the rims they are always at an angle of about 60 degrees

I don't know what to suggest... is it both the front and rear that are off? The only thing I did with the bike was strip it down and reassemble with a different chainset, longer seatpost and a different cockpit. Everything else on the bike is as is the day it was put together... unless the front and rear brakes are different lengths? and maybe I put them back to front when rebuilding??
really nibble, gears shift, new chain.
