Yup, press in the bearings, count out the amount of spacers you need, ditch the bb30 "cover" (the one that has sram etc written on it). Press in adapters with your hands, slide crank in and install.
Note that for shimano cranks, as you set the preload using the NDS preload bolt you don't need the wavy washer that comes in the bb30 kit. For sram cranks obviously the wavy washer is needed.
I use a sram red BB30 with wheelsmfg adapters. Haven't ridden it in a downpour yet, but 1500km so far on the wheelsmfg and not a creak. Did 2000km on that on a different adapter, FSA EE085, and also no creaks.
Use whichever one looks good enough to you.
