Well, you can prove anything with facts can't you.

So Apple got back to me again, with a conclusion that my cat could have come up with.
The hardware engineering team think it might not be hardware related since this is a replacement unit, so they have asked the apple store to raise another ticket with the software enginnering team...
I am pretty sure the software team is gonna come back to say it's not software related.
FFS, say no more.

Latest from Apple, had a long conversation with a dickhead and the most exciting things he says are:
"We have guildeline we have to follow and what we can offer, not what customers want and you want a Mac that works."
(Sorry if I am asking for too much.)"So you are telling me you want Apple to reimburse you for your time spent..."
(I said no such thing)And if you want to make an official complaint, you'd have to write a letter and post it to them, because phone conversations could be misleading and emails could get lost and neither of them are strong enough evidence. He also refused to give me his name, I wonder why?
Rant over. I now feel a little better.

What black magic is this?!?!?

• #7882
ahhhhhhhh. I wonder if it is possible to turn one into a hackintosh though? An i7 is a bit of an overkill when it can only run googles web based OS.
-
• #7883
A lot of people install Linux on them.
-
• #7885
I think you can install Windows but it's not easy. ChromeOS is based on linux so it's relatively straightforward to get that on there.

That was me using Chrome remote desktop to access my Mac, which is a killer app for me as it means if I ever need to do something only my Mac can do with the Pixel I can.
The i7 and 16Gb is total overkill. To be fair it doesn't only run Chrome though, it also runs Ubuntu through Crouton.
It's definitely possible in theory to turn it into a Hackintosh, but the wi-fi card is a problem apparently. I'm kind of hoping nobody does or I might regret getting the i5/8Gb not the i7/16Gb (LS) because that has more storage...
People have put Windows 8 on the original Pixel which makes sense given the touch screen.

hmm still having weird wifi problems. Connect to N network, 110mbps no problem. 1 day later, it maxes at 4 (down, but 9 up ?!). Reboot, fine for another day or so. I'm wondering if it's something to do with suspend / resume and my router but I don't have anything else on N to test with

So here is the latest development with my mac that has a ghost... The nearest explanation we could come up with is that Adobe is the cause of the problem. However, after spending almost an hour on the phone with Adobe (this didn't involve any waiting), they are just as clueless as I am. The points I have taken are as follow.
Adobe will refund you money if you kick up a fuss, which doesn't apply to me, because my copy is free, but FYI.
If I bought 10 identical Macs ad installed CC on each of them, the issue won't affect them all.
Adobe doesn't know if it's compatibility issue or a bug, but they know it only affects a small number of people so they are in no rush to fix it.
Apple technicians are shit.
But not as shit as the Adobe support, because they read everything from a script.
I am doomed until miracle happens.

I want to give you my laptop.

• #7890
.. it also runs Ubuntu through Crouton.

• #7891
Yes please thank you.
on the bright side, if there is 1, I managed to get attention from Tim Cook's office, as it were, a chap from executive relations who apparently directly report to Cook's office has taken over the case... at thus point, I honestly don't know if another replacement would make any difference.
A friend suggested it might be a weird compatibility issue with the specs (parts) as although my retina Macs are different year models, they are still very similar uh terms of specs (parts).

Finally, I am allowed a different model all together. Finally.

Lines on screen update:
Although my MBP is out of warranty Apple have agreed to replace my high res, anti-glare screen for free... If the problem persists they're also gonna replace the logic board, again for free... Pretty happy with that...
They're also gonna give me a repair quote later today so I can finally get this insurance business with my Thunderbolt sorted...

anyone want a new unopened apple thunderbolt to ethernet cable? the short one.
cheaps (missed the return date by 1 day)
-
• #7895
Which model?
-
• #7896
Isn't the problem logic board related?
-
• #7897
Wahooo! What ya going to get?!
-
• #7898
I know right. Crouton sounds like if Ocado made a Linux booter.

Don't know yet, they have offered me the base model of the 15inch with no additional cost, or I could go for the top specs one and they would meet me somewhere half way ish with the extra cost.
Or if any of you guys fancy this 13 inch I have, you can buy it off me. I am serious, since I got edu discount so you could grab a bargain if you want. It works perfectly fine if you don't use Adobe CC, and the bleeding machine is only 2 weeks old. If I don't do part exchange then, Apple has offered me a sizeable discount shall I want to purchase a brand new unit of whatever.
All of these were agreed with the store not the sodding executive relations as they were just as dismissive as the rest of Apple care. They were waiting for me to say it's not their fault and they are now no longer interested in keeping me an Apple customer. Whereas the store, said that they are happy to do anything within reason to help me even though it's not directly Apple's fault and to keep me a happy Apple customer.
Last word I'd use and I don't think there's been a single review which doesn't praise the design, build quality, keyboard etc. But have a go yourself.
