Nice bikes, those Looks. But: Sachs New Succes isn't low end, no?
-
• #101628
Cheers :) I seem to remember you pointed me in the direction of CNC bike, was a great help

Great!

I meant "less known" as opposed to low-end but that Sachs New Success Groupset never really picked up.
It deserves brifters so will probably source an 8 speed Campagnolo Groupset for it.

Sachs New Succes isn't low end, no?
Anything that prehistoric will seem low end compared with modern kit. 1970s Campag Super Record was at the top of the market, but on a bike for riding I'd take 2015 Shimano Claris over 1975 Super Record.

Rad selection of bikes there! Orlowski is looking amazing and giving me serious wheel envy. You didn't go Argos for the fork then?
-

campag made briftas for sachs - I think they were actually chorus quality iirc

Cheers, yeah I'm feeling pretty blessed to have that selection. FLO's are great, would recommend! I fired an email off to Argos and got a reply along the lines of "These a racing forks, for racing cyclists…not for you"….
They would have looked great no doubt but I'm well pleased with the Reynolds forks -

Some parts paint and stickers- Motobecane/Fauxnelli

That doesn't make them "low end".
I didn't say they were low end, just that they would seem low end to anybody used to modern equipment. By any reasonable measure, current Claris is a vast improvement over first generation DuraAce.

was thinking of losing stem, bars saddle as only ritchey comp eventually and the decals are a little too shouty -

you might want to check the rear mech is adjusted, i recall you fucked up a bike by putting the rear mech in the spokes?

i recall you fucked up a bike by putting the rear mech in the spokes?
you're half right, the rear mech on the c50 hp "fucked up" after 100km ride, the chain got stuck and i forced down, which broke the rd, the same thing happened on the 96 master during a ride, both were built for in in different shops in Haarlem, now if I feel that i stop and adjust
this example is just out of the crate from my storage facility ( hence the term "needs dialling in" ),after putting the Alan Super Record back in it's crate since some slag/wretch/cunt stole the saddle and post on saturday, i fear the Alan may be out of action a while since it is hard to source a victory 25mm post, and the loose nds crank arm issue re occurred, i think the axle hole edges are too worn and want to re place with one in better condition , i do have a campag nr 25mm seatpost, but will be using that to complete the Alan Super Record CX -
