^Yet another reason to avoid Bermondsey. I once saw the market place cordoned off with police tape - the only thing behind it being a mobility scooter, a trail of blood leading from it, and a pile of broken teeth at the end.

Mespilus jr. had his 1st 'Evaluation' session at the Hillingdon track.
he and another 14 yo looked comical alongside all the 6/7/8 year olds.Apart from one clipped-in light tumble he did well enough to be allowed 'the'
lap of the track.
He was then waved through, and ended up doing 4 or 5.Signed up, membership paid, will be on the to British Cycling on Monday.
Finished just after midday, so would have been churlish not to pop to Southall for lunch.
Fine day, cycling rucksacks on our backs, we set off along the Uxbridge Road,
passing places he has been to, by car, but mostly not by bike.Hanwell, Ealing, Acton, Shepherds Bush, then up to Portobello Market
for (vegan) cakes & drinks.Still a fine day, so cycled through the parks, down to the Embankment to see the road works for the East-West Cycle Highway, across Tower Bridge to Butlers Wharf.
Returned back past St Pauls and the parks.Bought some fruit & veg and then cycled home pretty slowly.
His first near enough 50 mile day.

Met up with a few club-mates this morning as they rode through, and supported them as they finished up JOGLE (I rode the last 100km or so). Awesome effort, for a great cause - the local RNLI station. They'd been riding ~200km a day for 8 days straight and my pace with them today wasn't far off my usual (slow!) pace... amazing.

Chapeau indeed. Rode the London Cycle Sportive yesterday what a difference a bit nice weather makes, one hour and 10 minutes quicker then last year. Mainly due to my cycle buddy get an irate text from his missus half way round.
Feel ruined today

Did some MTBing at the end of a week riding round Mallorca. Stayed in Galilea. Lush there, and the trails were amazing. Will be returning next year.

Just back from four days of riding. Set off from Worthing to stay with friends in London, then off Saturday to Maldon with a few friends, back to London Sunday, and then back to Worthing today. Managed to finally get round to riding Box Hill on the way up, which was pretty fun. The roads around Essex were stunning!

Thank you.
We had purposefully not got the paper in the morning,
so on getting home we had a 15 minute walk to ease our legs.He then went: shower, evening meal, latest Big Bang Theory, bed.
So very tired, but with a sense of achievement. He actually 'bonked' approaching 30 miles,
before we got back to Portobello Mkt for Malaysian cake at Makan,
and was demanding to go home by Tube.We talked through nutrition and digestion,
relating it back to his school studies, and drinking enough water,
and as the freshly squeezed orange juice refreshed his brain he came 'back'.I wanted him to experience this out 'on the road' rather than at the Hillingdon Track,
in front of his new 'clubmates',
as now he had been through it, he won't be scared of it the next time.
He did well to follow me the 14 odd miles home,
especially as our bike rucksacks, with 'London' quality D-locks and cables were also burdened with some fruit'n'vegetables, (8 kg for me, 6 for him).Got to plan a +/- 75 mile day now.

Last weekend: Belgium, Beer, Brompton <-- get a cup of tea ready before having a read
This weekend:
Saturday: Took the short travel XC bike to Cwmcarn with the awesome guys from Soho Bikes. Serious skill deficit but amazing weather and some bonkers climbing meant for a fun day out.
^Some prolonged 20% sections climbing up to that, reminicescent of the Muro di Sormano.
Sunday: Great Escape Audax. Rode in a grupetto - @Doctor_Cake, @KT_Bee, @blowfish, @kat. Could have done without some of the more major roads, but the lanes were tres bon as always. Circa 140 miles for the day.
Today I am spent.

I went over Bermondsey and some prick decided to run into the road looking the opposite direction, sending me flying... AND I came off worse than he did. Not cool ped, not cool at all.
