For the second time in my life I came across a cat yesterday that had fallen foul of London traffic and died. Other than feeling very sad for the owner is there something more to be done so that news at least gets to them?

What's happened to the body? I am not suggesting to keep it or bring it round with you and knock on doors, but maybe take a pic of it, if you can bare it. Then maybe put up poster with a description, not the pic coz it's too distressing, see if anyone responds and break the new to them?
I don't know how far are you willing to go, but maybe bring it to a 24hrs vet clinic or hospital or something to check if the kitty is microchipped?
This makes me feel sad.

Patch has brought home another dead mouse, when I had just tucked up in bed. She is off again for another hunting trip. I pray to god she comes home empty paw-ed!

Yeah it upset me too, such a waste. It wasn't a pretty scene either, I guess I was half wondering if there was a number to call, council or vet that would deal with the aftermath.

Any recommendations on how to stop our cat from pulling up the carpets outside the room if she gets shut out of it?
-

Let the cat in. The only way. These fuckers just don't give up.
-

^ I did worry that may be the case, she's very inquisitive and just doesn't leave things alone if she's let in!

One of mine hates it if does are shut, she will meow and starch at the door until you open it, will pop her around the door and happily move on once she's had a look.

My boss is the same, she could stay in the living room all day long happily and once I need to shut the bedroom door she would come and starts 'knocking' until I give in... then once she's walked pass the invisible line roughly about a meter into the bedroom, she goes back to her designated chair in the living room.

Hmmm...perhaps better to just let her have the run of the place then?

I hate to be the bearer of bad newas, but you are no longer in charge of your home, I mean her home. You should be thankful that she kindly allows you to stay in her house.

Lolwot, no. If you don't want cat there, don't let her in there. If she's insistent, cayenne pepper, water pistols, or some good old fashioned shake and shout until she learns. She's a cat, not a bloody princess.

This has been discussed a countless number of times already, but what dry food brands can you recommend? He's sticking his nose up more and more at the vet's brand. Probably because the GF keeps feeding him chicken from her plate, but still, could always try to change labels.

Mine will only eat Whiskas dry adult crack biscuits, we've tried them on all sorts even the bloody expensive ones the vet made us buy, but they both turned the noses up. To the point after 24 hours of them not eating think it was 'Hills' we had to give them crack again.

I mix orijen with a cheaper alternative either whiskas or nature hills

My cat allows me the privilege of sitting on part of the sofa on the understanding that he is allowed to sit on my lap as and when he wishes. The other half of the sofa is his and his alone.

Will it be really bad for the cat if I put here in a let hotel for a few days? need to go to a friends wedding aboard and I am weighing up if it's worth getting a friend to house sit or just to send the cat to a hotel. I can afford the cost but I don't j ow which option is better. I am only going away for 4 days.

If you can get a friend to house sit, absolutely the best option. Or it would be with my cat anyway, he hates going anywhere (apart from my girlfriend's parents' house) that isn't home. We've done both, as well as dropped him off with friends and its never been as good as just getting a mate to stay for a few days.

Had kitty on Hills Science Plan since weaning and she won't touch wet food even Hill's own.
2kg bag per 5 weeks or so for £17 is not expensive. If it's got enough protein in it they will only eat enough to stop feeling hungry. Cheap kitty crack keeps them hungry so you buy more.

Cheers mate, I'll try that one. We've had Basil on Royal Canin vets only stuff since we got him pretty much, but yeah, lately he's just not that interested. Will try the Hill's.

I've seen small 400g bags on Pets at Home website for £3.80 if you just want test flavors etc
