  • If you look at the tabs on this Mount. Its for a tri watch. Much light than an Edge unit.

I'm definitely doing this. I have the 920xt quickrelease kit on route, and plenty of different gauge spokes to test out. I love the fact that theres nothing actually between Your hands.

  • He said you should take protein and fat.

  • just about ready for Sunday's 50, a clubmate has kindly lent me a set of Mavic Cosmic Carbone SLE WTS which I assume are more aero than a set of Mavic Aksiums, as my Flo's seem to have fallen into a black hole between USPS and Parcel force since Sunday, and some of @xavierdisley's leg trips are sitting on my desk as well...

Aiming for about 85% of FTP and will try to push on if I can after 40 miles, as well as remembering to keep on top of drinking/gels and hopefully beat the 50 split I did on the way to doing a 100 on the same course last year!

  • My first CTT open TT tomorrow, can someone please put my mind at rest and confirm that I definitely don't have to use a tail light? The hand book says it is strongly recommended, as is a helmet.

  • Depends on the district's regulations. Where are you racing?

    Etwall 25 for me tomorrow.

  • can someone please put my mind at rest and confirm that I definitely don't have to use a tail light?

Look at the start sheet; some exceptionally stupid District Committees allow promoting clubs to insist on lights and/or helmets as Special Conditions, but all deviations from default regulations must be listed on the start sheet.

Tail lights provide a negligible safety benefit, but an even smaller performance penalty. On balance, you might as well have one on your TT bike just in case.

  • Thanks for the advice. Nothing to state that a light is mandatory on the start sheet, it's my club hosting it and they insist on a tail light and helmet for club events. I'll stick one on if the aero penalty is so negligible. Cheers

  • they insist on a tail light and helmet for club events

I hope they have DC approval for that, the only thing more stupid than DCs adding such dangerous regulations is clubs adding them without cover from the DC.

  • The start list for the Hull 10 that Brad W is doing has "target times" for every rider except him; what are the target times about and why doesn't he have to list one?

  • It's a form of handicap. He doesn't have a target as he has no qualifying times on which to base a target.

  • Is he going to beat Hutch's I7.45 for the course ? Dowsett's record? (I7.20?)

  • He's going to beat 17 minutes.

  • 55.17 for me today. Tough day, <25mph to the turn and >30mph back on 108". Looks like raising the pads 10mm has worked, power up.

  • ^looking great.

I've been tucking my head in which takes some getting used to - blurry vision, then last Thursday I had my extensions rotating round the bars which made me fear for my life, sorted that, now this week had the whole assembly rotating in the stem clamp. Some assembly paste needed there, seconds lost fearing for my life again.

12th / 60 overall but 20 secs down on 3 days ago. Down-geared for the wind, lost out on a 2 mile downhill before the turn I reckon.

  • Nice work! Position looks ace.

I did the Dukinfield 50 yesterday evening (5:11pm start lol), 1:55:30 off 104". It's the J4/16 which is the National 50 course this year, was very happy as I was just rolling round at 90% after a mad week of work and riding. Hands were going numb again but aero>nerve endings

  • Off to the r25/7 for my first go on a reasonably fast course later this morning. Obv not as quick as the /3 but should be quicker than my local, the u17.

  • Managed a 56.05 which I am happy with. Was hoping for sub 55 but after a week off the bike and on a slow day I will take that. Pb by 8mins lol.

  • Stuck to the plan impeccably, so averaged 85% of ftp, wish I'd looked at the time a bit more as I finished with 2:01:55 with what feels like too much left in the tank.

Better than my aspirational time of 2:10 though so no complaints!

Pretty pleased, my minute man was a tandem which blew past me in 6 minutes! Think they finished on 1:42:xx - impressive..

  • Think they finished on 1:42:xx - impressive..

Not as impressive as Tops beating them on his own in the later, windier, conditions.

The less said about my ride, the better, but I wouldn't have done two and a half hours of training if I hadn't entered, so there's that.

  • Ha, I'm not sure if it was my imagination, but did I see you walking down the central median at one point...?

Is there a bar spreadsheet this year (I know I'm not really eligible for this prestigious prize as I'm a cheat and have gears) but I might actually do all the relevant distances this year for the first time which might be an achievement!

  • I'm not sure if it was my imagination, but did I see you walking down the central median at one point...?

Possibly, I suffered a bottle ejection at about 6 miles and I wasn't about to ride another 44 without a drink. Probably cost about 30-40s Tracklog says 1m30s from the point where I stopped to repassing the same point after remounting.

Is there a bar spreadsheet this year

Yes, same document as before, I think I may have added rows for 2015 already.

  • thanks - thats 20 minutes off last years best then!

  • That's some improvement!
