Shimano Dynohubs are a lot, lot cheaper than SON. SON have slightly more gain with less resistance but, they cost. (lovely but perhaps not commuter material...)
Le Manfriend swears by Mavic touring rims, Mavic in general do good rims for a good price in my experience.
I like my drops for windy Belfast, that's perhaps just me ;)
