Chromecast

I just got a Chromecast, it seems pretty good, streams well and was easy to set up. However Eurosport Player doesn't work in Chrome, meaning I can't stream it to the TV. Anyone know a way around it?

There's a beta "cast screen" option on certain android devices and the chrome browser on pc. Can be a faff though.

There is a cast screen/window option in chrome which will allow you to view/cast another browser window/ any window.
As above can be a bit of a faff.

Am thinking of getting this for Eurosport playa.

Apparently a recent Chrome update has killed the playa and this fix got it working again for me.

Just checking, can I cast the Eurosport Player tab to the TV in full screen while retaining the other tabs on my laptop (so I can comment on here while I'm watching, for example)?

Got a Chromecast this week and managed to cast some stuff to my TV no bother such as tabs, YT vids. Using Chrome on a Win7 laptop

Now when I cast the tab of Eurosport player, the tab shows up but the actual video player box is grey.

FML.

Apparently because it's Silverlight.

Cocksticks.

I also found that out today. I have been steaming it to the tv using the whole desktop option, but it seems to be slightly choppy and the sound still comes out of the laptop.

Yeah there is apparently a fix to get silverlight to work again in chrome but it didn't happen for me before my tether end was reached. Currently watching it from the hdmi out.

I honestly can't find a way to do this. I've seen people mention it when Googling around this issue. Clue a brother up?

If any of you also have an Xbox the Eurosport player app works fine on it.

When you click the Google Cast icon in the browser, there is a little down arrow in the very top right of the box that appears. The bottom option is "cast this screen".

Cheers - yeah it's a workaround I suppose. Bit choppy for me too and with about 1s lag and no audio cast.

The little arrow's so small and faint I didn't even see it!

I wonder if I should complain to Eurosport or Google...

I've figured out the best way for me. Using an old Android phone, the Chromecast app will display the whole screen then just turning on the Eurosport Player app.

I've got a couple of Chromecasts but Apple TV is much better I've found

This hadn't even occurred to me as I have an Xbox but I never use it. Works nicely.

Glad I could help. It was the same with me I spent most of the day during MSR trying to get some sort of setup which I could stream to my TV that didn't suck. It wasn't until the day after that I clocked that I have an Xbox.

Eurosport Player latest

So it seems Chrome will be fully stopping support for NPAPI plugins (like Silverlight) by version 45 later this year. Already with the current version (42) you need a workaround to get them to work.

Hopefully this will prompt some action from Eurosport, but what's this...?

This week I got an invite to try the new Eurosport player. It's got a slightly nicer interface, which was the only difference I could see. I was disappointed to see the video player still uses Silverlight, though, as this makes me think they're sticking with it.

So the desktop version of Eurosport Player (on Chrome) doesn't seem to support Chromecast at all. The iPad version claims to, but just casts a big red screen with "EUROSPORT" on it, and the Android version works.

This is more of a bitch about Eurosport Player, really. Such a good use of my £6 a month.

Got an Xbox sitting around? Pretty much the only thing I use mine for is ES.

Sadly no. It's weird watching TV cast off a phone. Quality is good though.

No goddam eurosport app for ps4 though :-|

I bought a audio chromecast a week or so ago. It works for a few days, then I need to restart the router and the little dongle and go through setup again to get it working. Is this an issue with my router setup? what do I need to change?
