  • This should really be in a thread called "owning someone else's home"

My mum did one of those schemes where a company buys a flat for you, and you get a lifetime tenancy rent-free - on death or moving into full time care accommodation they get their flat back.
The owners have put her flat on the market as something called a "life tenancy investment" - i.e. you buy it at a considerably reduce price than if it had vacant posession, she gets to keep living there just as before, and when she dies or moves into care the owner can recoup their investment.
I would quite like to be the person that buys it, so that a) I have a nest egg for my retirement, and b) my mum would be much happier knowing her family were her landlords instead of some faceless investment company.
The trouble is nobody appears to offer a mortgage for this type of investment. I don't suppose anyone knows of a finance product that might lend me the cash?
