  • Ground floor chimney breasts. Can you remove them?
    There's one in the kitchen that is taking up precious square footage.

  • Yes but requires engineering to take the above load. They are normally structural.

  • Yes but I would recommend removing the rest of the chimney breast. (Or you could removing some of it whilst leaving the remainder poorly propped and perilously hanging as many people seem to decide).

  • talk to @princeperch about removing chimney from kitchen. i got mine removed previously and had the loft part done recently.

    princeperch had it done couple months back and posted pics few pages back with before and after. ask him about the party wall arrangement and building regs sign off as well. don't think he got back to us on that...
