I'll try and make one of them... work permitting!
(probably train) (and probably Thursday) -
• #9278
With any luck I'll be there too. £3?

£3?
£4 for guests both nights. I won't be there on Thursday.

Anyone know someone with a large S-Works TT helmet (McLaren) or a large WASP helmet that could lend it to me for some testing?
-
• #9281
Does anyone do a Garmin mount. That sticks out the front of shifters?
-
• #9282
Zipp one puts the computer slightly forward of the clamp. Otherwise I think you'd have to ask raceware to do you as custom one.
-
• #9283
Yeah, I have one of those (thanks @Smallfurry) but I was hoping to get one to stick right out the front on my training bike with barend shifters (to make map reading easier for cough audax). Nothing on raceware site suits and not enough time for custom.

How about the Profile Design computer mount? Fit standard diameter extensions. If you mount it right on the end of the extension, you could just wrap any bar tape from below it.
I use one on my Planet X, it's also robust enough to mount a front light on it too. Nothing too heavy though.

The zipp bta mount could probably get the computer pretty far forward, although it depends how curvy your bars are....
Alternatively one of the standard out front mounts combined with the profile design things could work...http://www.profile-design.com/files/9514/2085/1891/Feature-UCM.jpg

Yeah, cheers, that's what I used to use but I was hoping for something a bit more secure and a bit less bulky under my hand.
-
• #9287
How does that BTA thing mount to the bike? Nevermind..
http://aerogeeks.com/2014/06/30/zipp-vuka-alumina-bta-mount-review/
That might work, though I'd then have a BTA mount I don't really need on a training bike.

• #9288
One review says the mount just snapped off.. erm..
Presume it's ok for an 800?
-
• #9289
Fuck it. Ordered.
-
• #9290
Let me know how you find it pls
-
• #9291
FFS, doesn't support 910xt...
Won't someone please think of the slvlss!!
-
• #9292
I searched Amazon for 'Vuka BTA'.
:)

yes it works fine with a 800, and it can be a little wobbly going over cobbles, and in the bull horns its pretty solid everywhere else.
I originally had the mounts on upside down which was great as it meant I could fully wrap my hands around the extensions and still see the computer, but it meant having to undo the entire mount to take the computer on and off so I decided to mount it the right way around...
you could run it without the bottle cage in place if its really a problem, but afaik there's not much aero penalty (if any) for having a bottle between the arms and surely for a long ride, more bottle holders can only really be a good thing!

It's going on the PX for
audaxtt training so there's no point carrying more than a couple of bottles as there'll be a control up the road soon enough. I just tend to look at the Garmin more often when route-finding so wanted it stuck back out the front where I used to run it and the LYC. -
• #9295
I get this, was just suggesting the only thing I know if that might fit the bill, the fact it can be used to hold water bottles is clearly not useful, but could be an advantage nonetheless...
I also have n0 idea what an audax actually involves other than they are usually ridden by old people and sound quite far...

Get one of these
http://www.sigmasport.co.uk/item/Profile-Design/Universal-Computer-Mount-25mm/4X
then stick a garmin out front mount on it. -

Feck. late as usual.
I have a mate selling his Vuka BTA. Doesnt fit his Argon 18 bars.
Still he'd probably want Close to RRP, and it'd need posting. So not a great loss I Guess.
Been meaning to ask this......
Is it actually OK to use extensions in an audax? In the longer stuff I've raced (have number = race). The have-a-og MAMILs could barely cope With using frame mounted water bottles. -

I instantly get this image from that recommendation.......

I was thinking about simply suspending a standard garmin Mount ring between my Extensions. Using zip ties or elastic. So long as it doesnt get in the way of my fingers. The 910/920xt face weighs feck all. So it should be solid enough. Plus its probably the most aero solution anyway.
By car or by train? Putney to Windsor & Eton Riverside is a direct line, from there it's about a 5 mile ride to the start of the H10/10, first rider 19:00 Thursday 7th May. Holmwood is fractionally closer (but probably slower) to drive to if there are any London South clubs running on the G10/42
Weather permitting, I'll be with the Middlesex on the H10/2 on Wednesday, a bit further out but a 19:45 start.
