  • Very nice looking bike. Makes me want one.

  • Very nice.

  • Looks great. I'm doing a similar build at the moment. What are the wheels?

  • I built the wheels using rear hope pro2 evo trials/ss hub and front hope pro2 evo with mavic xm819 (29er) disc rims.

  • ^ cheers. I had already ordered a Hope Pro 2 Evo for the front. I do like the look of your wheels.

  • they're super light relative to their strength

  • Great looking bike. Quick question... I've heard the warnings about using only centerlock hubs, so have you had any problems with the 6-bolt hubs and fork clearance? Any modifications or special low-profile bolts needed? Thanks!

  • Superb looking bike! niallpatterson, what is your exact height mate?

  • so ace.
out of interest how much did this cost to build.
If you dont mind me asking?

  • ^this. super rad build. any idea how much it weighs?

  • Kona fork? Which model?

  • Kona fork? Which model?

That'd be a Kona P2. Among other configurations they came in 400ac, 45mm rake, triple-butted steel and disk mounts.

They're obviously not exactly light though, I'm waiting on a full-carbon disc fork from Taiwan to replace the P2 I have *.

    *I'm probably going to die.

  • Thanks guys, to answer all questions:

    I'm 6'1"

The bike cost me 1100 (I do work in a bike shop so slightly cheaper than off the shelf for all the parts)

    it weighs 9.2kg

I might be missing something, but the forks on this bike are Tange Prestige, not kona...

Woops! Similar logo (and fork) so I just assumed that metriod was right and they're Kona ... now I look again it's pretty obvious they're not P2s.

  • Decals painted over in gloss... and some yummy new tyres!!

  • This is awesome! What height are you and which frame size did you to for?

  • i'm 80kg or there about and this is a large frame (56ish)

  • Thread dredge - 6 months in, what do you think of the Hylex now?

    Thanks.

  • @andyp - I've got Hylex on my ride, and have been using them pretty much daily.
Pros: Good power and modulation, much better than the cable discs I was using before.
Cons: The levers need to be regularly adjusted (there's an allen key bolt) or they rattle, but it's a ~30s job
