have seen it being used with lighter loads without the hoop too.

The hoop is more for stability

What about the Blackburn Outpost? Looks like a good choice to mount full size panniers in the front. Apparently it´s out of stock everywhere.

Without totaling derailing the thread is there any rack I can fit to a carbon, kinesis dc37 fork? I suspect not all I want to carry is a small front bag.

anybody any experiences with those nimrod adventurer front racks?
looks quite nice for the beater purpose i have in mind and is cheepz. its impossible to google mounted. also, any idea of measurements? -

If you have a hole for a brake then you could use a Nitto M18 with p-clips on the fork blades

Could someone please recommend a front rack for this old Super Galaxy? Can I use pannier bags meant for the rear? Ortlieb Classics. I like the idea of front pannier bags and then a smaller bag strapped to the top of the rear rack. I'm quite heavy so thought it might be good to take some weight off the rear wheel.

you can mount a rear rack on the front. if you're handy with fabbing up a way to fix it to the brake hole.
the legs/struts need to be squeezed in gently to fit the narrower width of the fork ends without cracking. -
• #64
Ah right. Would rather not do that ideally, and get a rack that's meant for the front. If I could use my current rear bags without having to buy front-specific ones, that would be handy though.

Does anyone know if there are any front racks suitable for 26 " wheels? Or does it not make a difference?
-

A Blackburn Outpost will mount easily to your dropouts and brakes.
As for bags, rear Ortliebs on the front is what I do. Bit bulky but I figured that if I was investing in Ortliebs I didn't want to be short of space.

bumped into one of the guys from this store at critical mass last week:

I've held and fitted one of the large Pelago racks just recently
The quality is nice, although there are some small details which make me favor the VO/Soma racks. The rails on the pelago racks are welded sideways. I prefer the forwards welding of the VO/Soma
And the sloped rail at the end of the rack is larger than the ones on the VO/Soma. The larger sloped rail makes for a more uneasy fit for cargo in my opinion
Other than that the Pelago racks are quite nice, especially at the low price point!

Those look really good.
I've been looking for something similar but with a narrow width rack - a similar width to standard rear racks.
Pelago's are called large and medium, and the only difference seems to be the width - if they did a "small" conforming to the same pattern, powder-coated matte black, it would be exactly what I've been looking for.

What have you fitted yours on?
I'm thinking of getting one of these for my Pre Cursa, on a road fork. Looks like it should work well?

The Surly Nice Front Rack looks quite though as well:

Yeah I saw it and quite like it actually.
Similar to the Tubus one, but looks cuter.
