Abus Granit Plus 640 - great lock but rather pricey and I´m not sure if it´s already available in the uk.
EDIT: It´s available from Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/ABUS-Granit-Plus-Cycling-D-Lock/dp/B00V50GXFU/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1428695369&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=abus+granit+640

Yep, Sold Secure does mainly seem to be made up (the Evo 4 moving from silver to gold without seeming to change) but if the packaging says silver and it's now a gold lock it suggests it's either an old version or a different lock.

Has anyone suggested Litelok recently?
-
• #2581
I think you should look into that new Litelok thing that's on Kickstarter at the moment....

@GA2G: There is a mini U-lock that works: Abus Granit X-Plus 54 Mini

LiteLock is a good idea, but what about the resistance to the classic open flame?
If the flexible LiteLock material have a low tolerance to higher temperatures=very low level of protection=stolen bike.;)

Shite, it's now 3 for 2 aswell. tempted to get 3 more for when I eventually get my bike shed sorted.
The asakiltt lock is reduced to a tenner at the moment. Just bought two, one to replace the girlfriend's lock which has imploded and another as a backup for when I leave my lock at work. Will report back when they arrive

Thieves don't use open flames in city centers, or under CCTV. So that type attack is very rare.

The Clas Ohlson website just gave me an online 10% discount code as well.

It's an interesting idea.
The lock has to be connected to wifi for alerts to be sent to your phone?
Would be interested in knowing what lock it compares to in terms of strength. Is it just a £10 lock with some fancy electronics?

There's a lot of detail in the faq. But confusing on the alerts about wether you use wifi or bluetooth.
Regarding security:
Q. How secure is Skylock vs. the competition?
Very. We mean this. We built this from the ground up including the industrial design, mechanism and frame. Our lock is at least as secure as the top competitor. Skylock is equipped with dual locking pins so a potential thief would need to cut the lock twice before being able to steal the bike. -

Still open to attacks from a bumbling thief.

New U-lock that works, this time from Masterlock: Criterion , cheaper from Amazon.

Quick review of the Asaklitt lock, seems like the mega bargain hoped for at less than £7. Shackle is actually 16mm not 17, but it's double locking, identical to my Oxford by the looks of it. Only comes with two keys, but they have a serial so hopefully replacements can be sought of it comes to it. Bargain extrodinairre. Internal dimension are 104 x 192mm.

I have an Abus 401 Mini-U (the yellow one) which I've been using to lock my bike up here in Cornwall and in Japan with no problems. I used a shitty Palmy U-lock as an extra deterrent on the front wheel if I really felt like it, but these are low-theft areas.
I'm moving to Liverpool next month and I imagine anything not nailed down will get lifted. Should I use my Abus as my main lock and supplement it with a cable/smaller U-lock, or get a Fahg Mini and use the Abus as my secondary lock? How does the Abus compare to the Fahg Mini? Would a cable be useful anyway, since the Fahg looks pretty small?
Apologies if this has been discussed, but search just brought up sales threads...
EDIT: Finally found the Secondary Locks thread! I'm guessing a Fahg Mini is the way to go, in addition to the Abus 401. Do you reckon a cable is a worthy edition to extend reach? I'll be ball-bearing-ing screws where appropriate, too.

More is more, use 2 or 3 locks its the future.

Jadias, if you read the first few pages of this thread, you'll get a good understanding of what's best.

Useful to know. Good job.
That sold-secure stuff is largely bollocks, as this thread demonstrates.
