  • Some say that KM scanning expertise was even higher than Nikon's.

  • Want both, can;t afford.

    +1

..also I like this bus shot!

  • That bus shot.....second curtain shutter??? I also like it.

  • second curtain shutter?

    ..with an XA ?

    : ]

  • Thanks! Its whatever an XA does at about 1/15th second :-)

  • Tina it is possible on the XA with flash. I asked because normally the blur is in front of the moving object, with first curtain shutter, but behind the object with second curtain shutter.

Though, looking at the photo again, there is blur in front of the bus, which would signify normal image, and not second curtain as it looks like to me.

  • Thanks for the tip GA2G. No flash involved in this one... just got lucky

  • Didn't know that was possible -
never owned a flash for my XA, and the possibility didn't come to mind looking at Ollys picture as it does not look like flash.
Weird blur though, like the bus is stopping right in that moment..

  • Got my latest 35mm back from the lab, XP2 Super for all of these.

Sorry for the over share, but loving playing with a film camera, and appreciate any comments or criticism.

  • @mi7rennie Really like the long and winding road one, perfect dof. +1 rep

Been ghosting quite a bit from this thread as easter happened and have been feeling very un-inspired to shoot with the shitty weather etc. but got this in the post today so should be a eventful term at uni -

  • Which model is it? I have the M645 J and its great to shoot with as you have a nice bright, clear viewfinder :)

  • Cheers man, first shot in the Minolta that has come out exactly as I hoped / wanted.

I like it when people post a lot of their stuff.

Some nice pictures you have there.
I don't know why but I never liked XP2 much, yet when I see other peoples' shots I often think "hmm, nice tones".
Yea the long winding road one is nice, strawberry bank as well, nice.
In the bouncy baby one to me it looks weird that the child is so close to the border on the left, and all that spare space on the right / top is not improving things I think.
In that craftsman picture I would like to see it with his face more sharp (more depth of field), and it would be cool if that bolt wasn't so close to his face; still a nice shot though.

  • In other news I brought my L35AF with me three times the last couple of days and have not shot a single frame (that is: I have not shot anything analogue for weeks in general).
Feels weird, last year I sometimes shot 10 rolls a month.

  • ..oh and that last one of course; very cool to see these two and their bikes, hope you shot some more of them!

  • I could have shot them all day but I'm pretty sure I was freaking them out. The wheel builder too was like 'why would you want to photograph me?' So I just took the one frame.

I don't know why but I cropped the bouncing baby (my daughter Lana), original back up thread ^ now.

Another of the old guys attached.

  • its the standard M645
Should be a good step up from my pentax asahi mx and I was gonna get a wide angle off fleabay too but got outbid at the last second #ebayfunotstrong CSB

  • 'why would you want to photograph me?'

This is the most common one I get, really hard to reply without sounding creepy. E.g. 'you're interesting' Any tips anyone?

  • I mostly just say it as it is - "I think this is a beautiful picture", "..that colour / light / etc. looks very nice right now, would love to capture this", "I love your outfit / bike / etc. - may I take a picture of this".

So I guess it's good to use honest I-statements, as they come across, well, honest - and the person gets the hint that you actually care about making a good photograph - and an analogue camera definately helps in this regard.

I'm pretty shy often times with strangers, but I've found just acting as if you're confident, and being nice and polite works pretty well.

In other words (two statements I read a while ago and remembered) -
"..just ask, most of the time they say yes", and "smiling really helps".
