yeah they can, just use them like normal levers, the old acor levers i think look best for not a lot of $$$ http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Acor-Auxiliary-Brake-Lever-Set-for-Cycle-Cross-TT-Single-Speed-Bike-Cycle-/380773980006?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&var=&hash=item58a7e5d766

I've got an Acor cross-top lever. It gives stronger braking power than the lever at the end of the bar!

Sorry to open an old thread but I thought better than starting a fresh.
I have just ordered some BLB cross top levers, I want to use them on their own with my riser bar, how do I fit the cables correctly without the 'barrel' holder used on normal levers? Do I need different cables? Thanks.

As above they should just take the outer as a normal brake lever.
Hey everyone!
Now I'm assembling allot if new parts and now it's time for new brakes. I saw cross top levers on the internet and they looked really pretty. Now I heard say that they can be used alone. Does anybody have experience on these levers. Pictures maybe?
