• Silly question but are you/they sure it's a software problem? There are lots of other models of Mac not having this problem which makes me wonder if it's not a hardware issue unique to the retina MBP, which would explain why it has happened to you again?

Is there anything inside the retina MBP that isn't inside other Macs?

  • This is where I can't draw to any definitive conclusion. I spent a good couple of hours looking at various forums and a lot of people are having the same problem or very similar, and we have different models of the retina Macs and have different software installed. Some managed to find successful workaround by blocking things, changing things in terminal etc. On the flip side, folks also have retina Macs that have absolutely no problem whatsoever.

Personally, I think it's something to do with the wiring between the ram and the logic board, as it would explain the delay in waking up, we tired with different settting in the pmset and had some success, but it didn't last long, hence this speculation. But then again, how unlucky would I have to be to have gotten 2 Macs from 2 completely different batches that have the same problem?

Someone suggested that it might be a normal behavour of SSD, and if it is, then why doesn't everyone get this? Why doesn't it happen on PCs? Or maybe it does and I am just not looking at those data.
