Hi all,
Despite my being a billion miles away in Australia, I'm keen to get your thoughts and input on a project I've been working of late which is gathering a bit of momentum. The aim is a multi-discipline cycling review and culture site, with regular features on small frame builders, manufacturers and shops. I'd love to have people from LFGSS involved, if there's any interest in a contribution sense.
Thus far, I've set up a holding page while I'm amassing review items and some content to launch with http://www.theveloquentreview.cc . I have no real experience with site building but using Squarespace has been pretty forgiving thus far, and I'm only looking to get something clean and simple going. The original thought was to run a lot of it through Instagram (@theveloquentreview), but I soon realised that was a daft idea. Instead we'll use that to push traffic through to the site.
Interest wise form brands, I've secured kit from Black Sheep Cycling, a 2015 S-Works Tarmac Disc for a long term review, two of Lazer's new helmets, a few local Melbourne urban cycling apparel companies and some other bits and bobs, which should constitute enough to launch with. I'm also speaking with Curve Cycling with a view to reviewing some of their excellent wheels, but also hoping to have them as the first featured company, and to photograph their space/interview the dudes who started it.
The review style will be jargon free where possible and (hopefully) interestingly written - therefore not really a direct competitor to most major cycling sites.
If you're interested in reviewing items for the site it'd be great to hear from you. At present I'm doing it all off my own back, so I wouldn't be able to pay contributors in the beginning, but it'd be a good way to hone your writing, and there may even be some tasty review items in it for you.
So that's where things are at! Would be good to get some input, but please don't be too brutal ;)
P.S. Don't want to be that guy but follow on Instagram would be much obliged!
