this is my unorthodox take on the front rack.
- it's super stable.
- the pannier mount rails are much higher than lowriders to support full size rear panniers with ample rock clearance. (I know lowriders have a different purpose).
- it has a usable sized platform.
- it's Tubus AND titanium. very bling.
- it's super stable.

a pretty one.

How is the handling affected with panniers that high?

• #31
Yeah!

dunno yet.
probably somewhere halfway between lowriders and laden porteur rack. -

Mosquito just quoted me £159 for the soma porteur rack with a 50% deposit.
That's more than my tubus + ortliebs combined!
There must be a better deal! Anyone!?

the vintage ones are super nice. its a shame they dont do them like that anymore. to get the same effect you have to use a low rider and a rack, which costs mad €€€.

I have just bought one of these
http://www.bicyclestore.fr/fr/porte-bagages/10001181-petit-porteur-2900100070836.html
I will report back once it arrives. I imagine it'll be fairly flimsy but I just want something to hold a bag for the summer.

does look pretty flimsy, but i guess you cant argue with the price.

Velo Orange do a combined front rack and lowrider but yes, mad $$$

If it was sold in $ here in the UK, it'd cost £135, which isn't bad for a full tough front rack like that. But usually someone just replaces the $ with the £ :/
-
• #45
yeah, but it does have a decaleur thingy
nitto do a couple quite similar, pretty into this one, but looks like over kill for light touring.
lots of options though.. -

That Velo Orange rack is in stock at Freshtripe for £140. I got the Nitto Campee which is basically the same but with removable low riders (this is awesome) from Benscycle.

Btw these guys should hire a SEO.
Did plenty of Google/Bing searches and they NEVER came up as shops selling racks!

Also, I know it's not the right place, but I'm gonna put up for sale soon a VO Randonneur Front Rack which I've never used. If anyone's interested, let me know.
