Fuck Hydra - the real world is more exciting.


FF7 is the 5th biggest grossing film ever according to Box office mojo. Saw it on Friday, it's stupid but I enjoyed it, I thought it was my secret shame but it turns out they're doing OK for themselves!!

Saw Age of Ultron yesterday, two thumbs up would recommend if you like your marvel films.

So fucking good! Took me by complete surprise and dug its spurs in. Sure, ending was a bit flaky, but overall, they look like they did it justice as far as my knowledge extends.

Got it. Looks like a hangover film, so just waiting for the hangover.

The Babadook was pretty ducking creepy.

Currently watching Top Dog. Absolutely dire film about sportsball fans.

Can anyone recommend any documentaries about NYC in the 70s/80s/90s?

Quite a 'complex' story, but it I really liked it - the best film I have seen this year.

thanks for the suggestions I will check them out. I also remembered a BBC4 doc about the real story behind dog day afternoon - was pretty good. And a collection of early Scorcese NYC docs that I might still have on VHS.

JA: gave up after half an hour. how does this shit get past the planning stage?

Just watched a Noisey documentary on the NYC hardcore scene, was pretty good.

It got taken off me on the way in, and by the time it was returned to me by the jobsworth as I left, I had already eaten some other chocolate. I just assumed 50p for a big bar was too good to be true - we'll see.

On the other hand, Force Majeure is excellent. Unexpectedly hilarious and quite thought-provoking as well, and they've done well to make a whole film about that scenario and not have it be completely boring. Not sure about the ending though.

I thought you were allowed to take in your own food to cinemas now? At least that's what I remember being informed in some Watchdog type show recently...

You are allowed to take food into most, although this usually excludes hot food.
Last week a friend and I brought in a mcflurry and drink each from McDonalds across the road, no questions or eyebrows raised.

Hackney Picturehouse says no. Probably because they sell £3 chocolate bars. They didn't find the halloumi pitta bread I made for the missus though.
