  • Any recommendations for a bathroom tiler who covers Highbury? Asking on behalf of a friend. Ta!

  • So you would pull open the big drawer then pull open the smaller one?

    Yep, something like this:- https://www.howdens.com/content/image/2358-4336-1.jpg

Not sure if you could avoid interference from the back of the big drawer hitting the back of the smaller and pushing it forward, unless you leave the back of the big one with only a lip on the lower part to prevent pots from falling out.

The existing drawer is ~70cm wide and 28cm deep, but the back is only 12cm high. So an internal drawer that was, say, 65cm wide and 10cm deep would still allow the plates and other bits to remain in the main part of the drawer. Ideally it would be something that attaches at the top only, so it would screw into the underside of the top of the existing cabinet.

Hoping someone knows if they've ever seen one that can just be purchased and fitted by a ham fisted idiot (me).

  • Hard to imagine one being available aftermarket, good luck though.

  • If your pan drawers have high enough sides you could mount the cutlery drawer runners to the sides of the pan drawer? I'd get some nice damped runners otherwise your cutlery might crash around a bit when you open the pan drawer.

  • This kind of arrangement

  • Thats a bit tasty, what make of kitchen is that?

  • 25mm cavity wall audio insulation - any recommendations?

  • No idea just something I found on google images

  • Gah, google image search to the rescue to tell me that it's some 'merican company :(

  • A lot of drawers and fittings seem to be made by Blum, at least the ones for our 'Gerber' kitchen were.

If you google around you can find aftermarket bits from a fair few places. E.g. here: http://www.clutterfreekitchens.co.uk/blum-drawers/

Whether you'll be able to retrofit them to your unit is another question.

  • Build your own bookcases.
Is there some where out there, somewhere out there, that'll do this? Can I specify some dimensions, and lo, a bookcase will appear?

    Not cheap though!

  • Wouldn't it be cheaper/easier to butcher a Billy?

  • Have you seen my skills?

  • I've been looking at using them for the past couple of weeks.

Probably going to order something in the next month. Anyone have any good / bad reviews of them?

  • Jali stuff can be quite nice if you're ok to paint in yourself, they will undercoat it for you if desired.

    http://www.jali.co.uk/products/bookcases/bookcases.cfm

Very impressed with the Radiator cover/bookcase that they did for us, and their design guys where happy to help with a chat about how things should go.

  • There's a guy on the crystal palace triangle who seems to do stuff like this to order.

It looks quite decent if you like the painted MDF look.

Not sure how expensive it is though.

I tried to google him, but failed.

However did find this guy who seems like what you are after: http://www.brianwhitecarpentry.co.uk/shelving-bookcases/

  • Throw away the books and get an iPad you hippie.

  • I'm just kidding.
A friend of mine builds beautiful shelves, alas we are in Berlin..

  • I need to cut some channels in plaster for wiring, which I can do with my angle grinder and the diamond blade I have for it.

However - this is the most efficient dust producing tool known to man, capable of generating megatons of fine, penetrating dust ever fraction of a second during which it is employed.

Would one of those vibrating things have the cojones to cut through plaster?

    One of these:

  • My mate makes nice bookcases and other wooden furniture, she's based in Bristol but regularly delivers to London https://m.facebook.com/Lovewoodwork

  • As above. Hire a wall chaser with extract.

  • I use a blunt wood saw regularly to channel into plaster.

  • Depends on how much plaster you want to cut, but I'm a bolster and club hammer guy. Wired my whole house using them.

  • In terms of short term repair of vinyl tiles in the kitchen, what would be wrong with gorilla tape or similar?
