I was wondering if Google chrome cast would work for this, anyone tried it?

Yeah I have heard about that issue. I hear it's linked to bad thermal paste application, not something you want on a 2k plus machine. I hear it's all down to the AMD gpu which runs at over 100 degrees.
Maybe all these 1st gen machines are worth avoiding, sigh, I really did want a new toy, my current rMBP and acd setup sometimes troubles me due to the amount of clutter.

The machine that came back had the power supply changed, and I dont mean the plug bit or the cable, but the whole system... The one that we are monitoring doesn't like turning on half the time and it sparkle on me just last week when I was testing it.
For the record, I am finding the force touchpad really strange and I keep pressing the 'button' when I don't want it to... And the start up time on my new mac is unbelivably slow, like more than 20secs (so first world problem!) And I am not seeing any increase on preformance compares to the half fucked unit I returned... That said... the blank screen (touch wood) hasn't happened again yet...
Still I am still very tempted with the new Macbook... I really shouldn't...

Ive been using macs for 12 years and never had a problem, I have used them for video editing 3d rendering and graphics work with nothing ever happening. My first ever mac, a powerbook, is still working. The only thing I can think of is if you have 2 clashing bits of software that somehow ruin your system, and i have no idea how you would check this.
Im gutted for you, I hope it works out for you in the end.

..sorry, didn't mean to be mean - it's like these times when situations are so fucked you just have to laugh about it I guess..
Seriously though - good luck sorting shit out!

This was the 1st thought we had when the problem 1st happened, hence we wiped the system clean and all. OK, with the old unit, maybe there were some crap hidden somewhere that was playing up, but this is a 3 days old machine with literally nothing on it, and my user habbit hasn't changed since ever. I have identical software installed on my 2011 Mac and never had a problem with it. Maybe it really is me...

It's not something as simple as a hot corner that turns the screen off is it?
-
• #7739
I was only joking, I have been laughing myself as well... It's like, can I really get a refund this time? Might as well get a Viglen or sth, coz if it breaks, it can go straight to the bin and no more headache...

No, it goes off the sleep after a period of inactivity... the only thing I can say is that if it stays asleep for a while, it seems to be OK, but if I tries to wake it up pretty much straight after it has gone to sleep, it struggles to wake up more often... I am doing some digging on google and it seems people have been complaining since 2012...

I'm getting bored of tech people making out you need 2ghz plus and 16gb of ram to send an email.
DayZ, however...

Just booted into safemode and something weird happened... it took forever to boot in, which was to be expected, but after I have entered my password, the screen started flashing with loads of horizontal bars, then it cancelled my login, had to do it again... then the rainbow wheel jus wouldn't stop... well being a rainbow wheel... couldn't recreate the issue in safemode... now I am going for a rest...

Here is an update, finally managed to speak to someone from Apple who seems to know what he is talking about. We tried the SMC reset and it failed... he has suggested a couple of things for me to do, but I have not a good feeling about it...

after indesign, anyone help me out, not after the full package.
I used to use an HDMI adapter that went into the charging port, worked easily. Never tried Apple TV for it though.
