  • ^^ my mate would be interested in that ebv - check out his website - http://www.vintageguitarandbass.com/ - ping him a message with serial number and numbers off pots he'll date it for you

  • Very nice indeed... Project? You got all the hardware for it?

  • I figured out the chords to Man out of Time by Elvis Costello yesterday. That Chorus is one of the most satisfying things to play ever. Love me a well placed dim.

  • YOUR dim! #etc

  • getting all original parts is going to a quest.
the amazing old pick up still works. got it wired straight to the jack at the moment.
built up this tailpeice out of a cello tailpeice / hacked up old acoustic bridge.
some old tapewound strings, managed to fit some old tuners .
and fashioned a bridge out of some indian blackwood (another failed job, wood was to nice to bin)
its playable. but not nice to play. awful intonation.
parts have been ordered and are on the way.

  • Did Epiphone ever repro those? Might be worth buying a cheapy and cannibalising it for the parts...

  • the bridge poles are a different fit. narrower than modern stuff. the og bridge looks like this.
you can still get them, but they fetch a pretty price. same with tuners. even the ferrules are a silly size. the og ferrules alone fetch 100+$. almost as rare as dura ace 10 pitch.

  • plus they are rubbish.

  • that is ghetto fabulous

  • I bought a guitar off ebay for my boy and used him to service it and sort out a few gremlins. Excellent service.

  • needs valves and 15" cabs.

  • Is there anyone on here who'd be able to have a look at the electrics on my Tokai Breezysound for a few beers or some food? I think it's just a dodgy connection in the jack but I only have the tools to take it apart and have a look, not fix it.

  • Picked up my Firebird yesterday - Matthias Herbst painted and finished it for me and did a great job. I would recommend him if anyone needed anything similar doing.

Started to throw the parts at it last night - so far this has needed 'adjustments' with the hammer (whacking the bridge / saddle bushing in) and drill (enlarging the pot holes after painting). I winced a little whilst belting it with the hammer...

Fairly long list of bits to complete now, the tricky bits are shaping the nut and dressing the frets, neither of which I have a lot of experience in doing; how hard can it be though?!
