Sorry brother I have just seen this post,
Yeah really strange but hey what can you do?.. I actually managed to get the thumb lever from Sidcup cycles for 12quid which was way cheaper than I though and I did the replacement this afternoon, all went well but it is a small learning curve. Took me about 30 mins but I could probably do it again now in about 3 minutes. All seems well but until mounted who knows?..
I will keep your web address to hand as I think I may well make the leap over to Campag with my new builds..

It's vanishingly rare to get a problem like this - we have been dealing with Campagnolo warranty issues as the main Service Centre since 2008 and I have dealt with them personally since ErgoPower was introduced - and I have never seen that part missing ... but if all manufacturers did everything perfectly all the time, there would be an awful lot of warranty personnel out of a job!
You are correct, the only reliable fix is a replacement lever - EC-RE204, we have them in stock.
Please contact us for a price to supply lever only, or to supply instal it for you (not difficult but there is a specific trick to re-tensioning the lever return spring when reassembling the back of the lever).
