• What are you planning to chop it in for? Why no test drive?

  • I'm buying another MX5 which is much more suitable for trackdays. I did a few trackdays in mine, and as fun as it is, it's frustrating. To get it up to spec, I'd have to spend at least £1.5k. The car I'm buying has been built by a mate in Cornwall, it's making almost the same power as mine, but instead of being forced induction, it's on ITBs, big cams, and exhaust.

I've seen the car a bunch of times, I know the condition it's in, and I've been passenger, but I've never driven it myself. I've lusted after it for a while and when my mate finally decided he wanted to sell it to fund other projects he has going on, I knew I had to have it. It was built first and foremost for thrashing around a track, and he has used it for that for quite a while and it has proven to be very reliable and good at what it was built to do.

To me, it was a no-brainer to send mine off to a new person who is more interested in b road blasting and motorway cruising, which mine does very well indeed.
