This is what I'm concerned about. I was at fault by not leaving enough room, but the car was also at fault for causing the emergency manoeuvres, so I think there's minimal chance of a claim or anything. Considering paying a visit tonight (the drivers house was really near the turn-off) and seeing what might happen.

In car terms I've always been told that if the car in front has to emergency stop you should have left enough room to stop yourself.
Would the same apply to bikes despite shitty driving?
