Regarding the Merckx EMX-525 it seems as if it is only available for electronic shifting gruppos.
Also after a bit more reading on the web Eddy Merckx was the second person ever to ride one of these frames so I guess he did have some input into it's design. I was under the impression that he walked away from the brand when he sold the company.
