Problem is, i'm not using a Thomson clamp as the frame has one built in. I've literally tightened it as much as it will go without breaking.
If you overtighten it, you'll deform the frame and it won't tighten properly any more. Don't do that.
Make sure the bolt thread and head are greased so friction doesn't give you an inaccurate torque setting.

I've used assembly grease too and still no joy.
