  • Has anyone had a raw frame clearcoated at Chicago?

Considering getting it done (if they offer that service)

  • does anyone know if you need to cover the BB threads etc yourself before taking a frame to Chicago or do they know enough to do that?

  • They know that.

  • They know, but from meeting people who've dealt with them they don't always remember to bung the holes.

  • We've had 3 come into work recently, they come out ok, quality is a little bit shody in places but seems tough. They cover most of the threads but seat tube needs a bit of going over with a knife and defo need to face the bb shell, mostly good though, i would use myself

  • cheers everyone, gonna drop the frame in later.

  • Can I ask how much they charged you?

    R

  • £30 for frame and forks.

  • I have a frame laying here that could do with some paint... Excuse my ignorance but do i have to strip the paint first?

  • For handling it to the powdercoaters i mean

  • Nah, they do all that, make sure you remove all the parts though.

  • Thought I'd add to this. I got a frame done at Ashton Powder Coaters a few months back, happy with the results all in all, around some of the braze ons needed some gentle neatening up but it was cheap (~£30). Would recommend.
