  • Just be careful about moving deposit money around too much as they may ask questions about that (they did with me...)

  • Anyone own a good looking detached house with a driveway in easy distance of central London?
We need a location to film in this coming Monday (27th April).
    We have dollar (some).

  • Don't. New bank account means credit searches, credit searches just before applying for a mortgage are bad. Do it after.

  • Exchange happening this afternoon. Move in next friday!
Now to worry about the fact i have nothing to put in this flat.

  • good luck with the move laner

  • If you want a tv cabinet thing, lemme know.

  • bieks?

who is forum approved builder if any? (SE area)

  • Ha, i don't even have a tv....

  • What do you point your furniture at?

  • the housemates tv currently, i'll have to buy a fishtank

  • Blimey, that happened quick!!

  • Reviewing the fittings and contents.

How do you say "give me whatever you don't want to remove, but I don't want to pay for it"?

  • " "

  • You should have agreed that as part of the offer initially.

But "I assume all fittings and contents unless otherwise stated are part of the agreed sale price and request this be confirmed in the contract" might work, probably not with foxtons though

  • Think I am getting anything nailed down or nailed in.
But they've got some fancy light fittings which they are going to take, maybe, still getting an itemised list.

There's a chandelier which i do not want so thats fine.

Apparently all their furniture is up for grabs too. God awful mirrored bedside tables, dresser and a union jack chair. erm no thanks TOWIE.

  • Dibs union jack chair.

Unlucky, I got fridge freezer washing machine and microwave with mine.

  • We got a huge American style side-by-side fridge-freezer. Previous owners just left it here, probably wouldn't fit where they were going. Wasn't in the list of stuff we were expecting and we certainly didn't pay extra for it. I expected it to break down soon after moving in (8 years ago) but it's been fine.

  • Been back to the place today with the missus. Luckily she likes it.
At the moment, there's just cheap landlord carpet over floorboards which are more of an underfloor from what I can tell (gaps and all). They run sideways in the hallway so am I right in thinking we just stick proper floor boards on top of this?

The boiler isn't as old as I thought - its a Main combi 24 which is the same as the new one at my mates rented place. They dont have any issues with it so that's good.

Spotted an old TV aerial literally hanging off the roof in the back... That will have to go.

I took some pics of details and the electrics that I'll post later but they look fine.

  • Re floorboards, you'd probably have to lay some kind of underlay over the top of the boards you have, and then put laminate/solid wood/engineered wood over the top of that.

'Proper' floorboards, as in the kind you see when you see 'original wooden flooring' advertised with a house, are nailed into joists generally with nothing underneath.

  • Sweet. Thats what I assumed. My mate used to install floors for a living so I'll nag him in to helping.

Kitchen needs re-plastering on at leat one wall. Then we're good!

  • How does this look?

  • Old, and maybe confused...

  • Feel free to come and have a look at ours for interior/styling tips ;)

  • Yeah, I'm getting antsy that this place is going to end up costing way more than 300 once we've done everything. The floor is making me a bit nervous.

  • And we have to make sure the plumbing etc is done before we get a floor put in.
