Re floorboards, you'd probably have to lay some kind of underlay over the top of the boards you have, and then put laminate/solid wood/engineered wood over the top of that.
'Proper' floorboards, as in the kind you see when you see 'original wooden flooring' advertised with a house, are nailed into joists generally with nothing underneath.
