  • Can anyone recommend a road style looking shoe which takes a 2 bolt spd cleat. I was considering a pair of privateers.

I've had a pair of the Shimano M088s - probably equivalent to the R088s although maybe a little less roadie.

I'm happy enough with them and they're cheapish at Wiggle at the moment.

  • loving the dics

    Errm.. ok.

    The 'A-Road Avengers'

  • @Soul I dont think I can pull off the white.

@mands How are the holding up? every piece of clothing I've had from Planet X has been dire.

@rhowe I think the M signifies Mountain and the only difference is the sole for Shimano shoes, similarly RT for touring.

If everyone seems to agree they hold up well I'll stick with shimano.

  • Help!

Is there any way to log into your Apple email account remotely from an Android device?

My main email is sync to my Icloud and my iPhone has died. I don't have access to a regular pc or apple product, so everything has to be doable from an Android tablet.

    Any ideas?

  • Yep. It says my browser (chrome) is not supported...

Maybe time to download some other browsers and try with those.

  • Any suggestions for a decent packable waterproof (that is waterproof)? Just for general wear rather than cycling.

  • Phew. The screen on my iPhone is working again.

But I'd still like to know the answer, so I'm going to see if you can only log in to Icloud using safari.

  • You're probably right, they all seem to have similar uppers and straps etc.
The RT82 have held up fine for the 6mo of daily use they've had.

  • Yeah they've held up OK. Took me a while to realise that the ratchet can be moved - there are two positions it can be in. One one of the shoes part of the ribbed plastic that runs through the ratchet snapped off, but unless I get trench foot I'm not going to need to use the bit that I lost.

I punched a hole above the big toe in both of them, but that's probably just my weird feet - gives a nice cooling breeze in summer. Make sure you won't need to ratchet them up to the tightest setting - if you go one beyond that you have to fight for quite a while to get the release catch to depress so you can take the damn things off.

  • Anywhere cheaper than £94 for Ultegra 11spd hub set?

Bike24.com have them for €125.75 shipped, that's about £93 on your UK credit card.

  • Not enough difference for me to bother but thanks.

Any idea why Ribble and Wiggle say they are 11spd only? Can't you just add freehub spacer to use with 10spd?

  • I trod on a rusty nail/staple/screw sticking out of my (soon to be replaced) staircase this morning.

I don't know if I have had tetanus shot recently.

    Doctors or Savlon?

  • Can't you just add freehub spacer to use with 10spd?

Yes, 1.85mm spacer (plus the 1mm spacer if your 10-speed cassette requires it on 8/9/10-speed hubs) on an 11-speed freehub makes it 10-speed

  • I don't know if I have had tetanus shot recently.

If you don't know, it was probably a while ago. In theory, you have lifelong immunity if you completed the 5-stage programme from infancy to teenage; whether you did that depends on your age, as it didn't exist when I were a lad. Probably best to check your records. If you can't find any record of either a full 5-stage immunisation or a shot in the last 5 years, you might as well get a shot now, it won't do any harm.

  • You're going to die horribly.

Just have the jab, it's one tiny prick as opposed to an Internet community of thousands of them.

  • It's time off work though which is a pain in the arse for me.

I will do my best though, because if I died or worse, had my jaw muscles seize up so I couldn't eat, I'd only have myself to blame and the internet did tell me to do it.

  • I have Sugino BB & Sugino 75 cranks. Which crank puller do I need? Park Tool model?

  • Bog standard one, they're not an unique snowflake.

  • Thanks. Never serviced a BB...

  • Which crank puller do I need? Park Tool model?

Park CCP-22, although I prefer my old Campag 770, now known as UT-FC060

  • In that case, take off the Sugino BB and put the Campagnolo 111mm one in, or Shimano UN55 in 107mm.

  • I am not trolling.

Shimano is cheap and long lasting too.
