  • And it's never razor weather.

  • Anyone riding tomorrow morning?

  • if it's sunny/i'm not too hungover/people make plans i can just turn up to or not/i'm not asleep/etc.

  • Haha!

Well, if the weather is good in the morning I'll be going out at about 8am for a couple of hours

  • ironically - if I'm up at that time, it'll probably be because I'm hungover. I'll text you if I am though.

  • Anyone for a blast this eve?

  • Anyone up for some inner city rides? Some sort of circuit that ends up at a pub or sommat?

  • I've been trying to come up with some sort of inner city crit loop for ages, but I just don't think the roads are right for it. We don't have any big enough roads that aren't the ring road(s), so you'd either just have to blast round there a few times, or get stopped and lights/junctions if you venture 'inside'. I'm up for riding if someone can devise something though!

  • Doesn't have to be a circuit really, more just a "lets head out in this direction" sorta thing

  • Oh I see. In that case that's what all of the rides I've ever been on have been! The ones that leave/left from the Dandy were just in vague directions ending up back at the shop, which used to work quite well.

Not sure if/when we'll start doing them again as @jakjakjak's no longer Dandy affiliated/sponsored.

  • Could go around from Carrot Rd, up through Thorpe St Andrew and Dussindale, down from the Heartsease Roundabout, thru Mousehold and down Riverside Rd...

...not too many holdups on that kind of a lap

  • Don't think I've ever been held up cycling up/down mousehold ave/gurney rd, driving on the other hand..

  • Only ever been down, going up can do one

  • Half my commute there. Some nice hills through Thorpe Hamlet as well.

Only ever been down, going up can do one

    @bengreen Rule no.5 always ;)

  • Going up the first half (when you come off the roundabout at the top of bishop bridge road) is a bugger but the other half (Gurney road) is fine; Mousehold Avenue is a bugger though!

  • Climbing up towards Mousehold lane past zaks i can't see myself doing that very soon haha!

If i ever need to go to the post office i go up Sprowston and then along the lane, then down the lovely hills on the way home!

  • When I was buying ALL THE CYCLING SHOES I was riding up and down Gurney Road at least once a week to collect various packages - it's really not that bad unless you get stuck at the roundabout and have to go into it really slow.

  • That's the hard part, the rest is relatively easy; you'd be fine, @bengreen, it's easier than it looks!

  • True, Gurney Road is nowhere near as bad as it looks. Kett's Hill on the other hand is a fucking slog

  • I may risk it next time I need to go to post office!

  • Agreed - Ketts Hill after a day at work on 80 gi was rank!

  • We nearly bought a house 3/4 of the way up Ketts Hill once, I hadn't attempted to cycle it at that stage and I'm glad we didn't now

    #CSB

  • ^ I've gone Riverside Rd and thru Thorpe to get home on several occasions to avoid Ketts Hill...

    #EvenCoolerSB

  • I think I'd do the same
