Fuck it's hot. My body needs to adapt to this sudden rise in temps.
Maybe I should ditch the LS merino and gloves. What do you think @kl ?
I leave this thread for a few weeks and this is what happens? Vest, shorts, shoes, prescription glasses/ contact lenses. That's your lot in winter, you can divest some of these now we're in summer.

so i wrote this a month or so ago...
got into london last year but deferred as i knackered my knee. had great plans for a decent run this year and was running in december but had a mental january then got lumbered with an exam to do for work so have only just had time to do any training. i can't defer my entry another year so i'm forced to run it this year. it won't be pretty.
did 7m last fri and will do 7m tonight. and that leaves 7 weeks till the event.
wish me luck!so i offered my place to a mate as i haven't been able to train but he's already in the book for stratford marathon with another mate so doesn't want to bail on him....so foolishly i've decided to keep my place and give it a shot.
i've ran 3 times in the past month and the longest run was 8m.
i'm throwing 4hr 45mins out there. if i get inside that i'll be happy.

Good luck dude!
Do you still ride? I don't see anything from you on here or Strava etc, and if it ain't on Strava, it didn't happen

haha easy jim.
unfortunately i havent ridden properly for ages. plus i haven't uploaded for months either. i would suggest going for a ride but you're super human fit so don't want to embarrass myself completely.
good luck at LBL -

Having not been running for a while, I did 2x2hr runs at the weekend, which were slow and painful, so decided to enter a 10k to kick myself back into shape. Only instead I entered a 30 miler in 2 wks time and a 100 miler at the end of May. Should be interesting, if a little fatal.

First Monday run for weeks (INSET day, school/bank holidays, not working from home, and a skiing holiday).
Warm but that didn't affect it much. 2nd fastest time on that route, which is nice. Just happy I'm not getting slower!
73km so far this month. Another 68km to go in the next 10 days.

I've had a dodgy stomach for the last week, I made the mistake of ignoring it one evening and the consequences were NOT GOOD so I've not run for 7 days. Feel totally out of the habit now, I don't like it :(

On Saturday I decided to cycle the 10 miles home along the towpath instead of getting the train back and ended up getting a puncture. No repair kit with me so I had to run (and push the bike) the 4k to the next train station in order to make the train. Made it with 3 mins to spare and even overtook a family out for a weekend ride on the way!
No knee pain so I have decided to try and build up the distance again. Will be following a beginners 10k plan to build the distance up real slow.
Today I went out to do a 1k test. 3:58, which felt very hard and very slow so I have lost a lot of fitness, but should be able to rebuild that.
Feels good to be moving again!

Maybe pushing a bike everywhere is the answer Andy?

Our house has had flu in the last week or so, but the good kind, not particularly gastric.

toenail remains half attached and painful, think I might need to make a visit to the doctors

seems like a waste of a trip to me, you must have some gardening shears knocking about Ed.

Sports massage. Definitely need more of it in my life. I also had acupuncture for the first time; it was a pretty weird feeling, together with ice baths it seems to be working. Almost confident enough to start checking the weather forecast...

After months of not running then starting again a couple of weeks ago it finally clicked back again. Didn't break any land speed records but I could at least engage in a rhythm.
DON'T EVER TAKE A BREAK, NOT EVEN FOR A WEEK!

Well it's official I'm out of London with the crappiest injury I've ever had, I have no pain or symptoms doing anything else apart from running.
I can run up and down stairs, row and walk with no pain or even inkling that I'm injured. If I try and run, it starts with a dull ache in my inner thigh which quickly turns into a sharp pain higher up my adductor muscle.
I've been to a physio who didn't think it was a strain as it doesn't hurt when stretching it, she beat me up for an hour and told me to try running today. I'm not expecting miracles so I guess I'm on cheerleading duties for the wife again.
She's hoping to knock 10 minutes off her pb and run sub 3:15, nothing worse than spectating at a race you should be running in.
^ you can do it for sure.
Still planning peaks overnight bivvy jog/fast walk/slow walk with a buddy, thinking Pennine Way linking two stations best bet. Should go recce first tho really.
