On e-bay the leather ones can be had used from £60ish (but I've seen ones going cheaper).
I'm in Belfast alas, else I could give you a lend of mine :)

So I'm out of the country and on a borrowed bike. A step through, with one of those massive 'comfort' saddles. ffs my bum hurts and I'm not even going far on it. far on bike not bum

Those are so bad, after 12 seconds I can not feel my toes anymore.
-
• #587
i hate those! there has only been one exception - somehow found a comfy, wide saddle (sure i have a picture somewhere) which i put on the gitane but i got the spfg nickname of "sofa king" when i rode it. i didn't care, it was comfy, but it looked awful on a track bike hahaha
when are you back?!
also @JWestland thank you anyway! :)

One of the guys at work has an Adamo he doesnt like, so I'm gonna try it too. Have been using a Selle Italia Ladies Gel Flow for quite a few years now, but am up for trying something different (especially if its free)

comfiest saddle i ever had, rip. cry erry time -

Looks good! Keep us posted!

Am i right thinking that:
1 - Most saddles are too narrow for you? (168 is the widest I believe on Spez...)
2 - Most saddles are also too hard for you?
3- You don't necessarily need a cutout?(I can stand hard saddles, but if there's no cutout for "the bits" well, ouch...)
-

1 - yes, most saddles are too narrow for me. i can literally feel my sitbones on either side of most saddles, not sitting on the top of them. it means all the wrong parts of me take aaaaaall the weight.
2 - not actually too sure about hardness, though i would prefer a slightly squishy one?
3 - i think i do need a cut out. willing to experiment but from experience they lessen the pain at the front somewhat.after about saddle number 8 i measured my sitbones at specialized in cov garden and got this:
which seems to be alright, i just got back from a mini tour on it and no massive probs but it's not perfect (or, as i know cycling isn't perfect or comfortable 100% of the time, reasonably comfortable). the width is good at the back but i'd be happier with a bit less pressure at the front. this lithia seems to take a lot of the pressure off the middle which is good. -

I'd say a Selle SMP may be perfect then, as I've an SMP and an Oura, and the Oura is definitely harder on the nose/has less room for The Bits than the SMP.
What width is the Lithia? I've a SMP pro, but I cycle a 155, if the Lithia is 168 you probably need a different model :)

:)
The pro is quite narrow up front, which suits me, but perhaps not you. Lite 209 is supposedly best for most people. They come up on Evilbay used, there's one there right now.

I prefer cut outs, might be a mind game but it might actually be science. I agree with science
oh @lucyh Sofa King looks fantastically mismatched, but the best things in life are not based on looks! This fam have loads of bikes, so I might swap the seat on this one, for one of the other massive saddles, see if that helps. @Ecunard yep, what are toes? ;)
Not sure when back, really missing life in LDN
And @clefty I have the Diva version of that saddle, and it's great for everything, (as I use only one bike for everything), I reccom'd it tons.

I should have just brought it. Although it'd stick out massively here. Only seen 6 road bikes and 2 ss and 1 fixed since I've been here. I can remember them because they are so rare above the step throughs and 'bikes for a to b' Plus, most bikes here make an AWFUL racket. I thought mine was bad but here, wow. Chains rusty as owt!

Brief comparison of Oura and SMP Pro:
Long and short is that if you're not good with hard nosed saddles, I suspect an SMP will suit you better as the shape is more anatomical.
The cutout seems fine though.
