  • I did good, too good - whoops.

I thought I was being fairly self-restrained, until one of the staff told me I could have a few items for a tenner...including bib shorts, a fleecy jumper, three cycling jerseys and a wind jacket.

Think I saw some familiar faces. Everyone looked very intent (cue srsbsnsfaces) but also like kids in a toy shop :)

Can't remember the name of the nice forum chap I parked up with. He was very self-restrained with his purchases, unlike myself :/

  • URGH. Wish I'd seen this today.

  • That was pretty damn good. Went in just to look, left with two jerseys, some merino and shorts. Good haul. Glad I didn't order online. Those jerseys are toight!

  • Just got the Howies Team long sleeve jersey.

It feel awesomely snug, the fabric are really super stretchy, bit worried about how durable the back pocket are.

  • Sample sale in MCR right now, at Friends Meeting House (near town hall), until 8pn tonight I think then more tomorrow.

  • Sample Sale in London - Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th April.

"There will be sample jackets, knitwear, jeans, trousers, bike kit, Merino, Ventile, Epic. As well as some rare bits, one-offs and stuff that never even got made. It will all be priced to sell too (if you know what we mean)."

I did extremely well last time: went home with some excellent thermal bottoms, jerseys, pullovers, a fleecy hoody, and a men's rain jacket, all at rock bottom prices. Well, it was (sort of) Christmas time ;)

    Wed - 9am to 3pm

  • Saw this on Instagram, will definitely be popping in tomorrow.

@Miss_Mouse did they take card last time?

  • If you have any spare carrying capacity, or buy anything M or 34" waist and decide it's not for you, give me a shout. I'd pop in but it's my first day in new job tomorrow.

  • No ...
    (not srs)
(according to the email they have a single card reader so might be a bit slow, just don't you dare buy anything I was going to get ... !)

  • A couple or large ventile bomber jackets, and some of the small ones with hoods. Quite a few slipstream Jersey's, otherwise not a lot. No queue

  • Unsurprisingly, there's a lot of wintery stuff.

l/s base layers, l/s jerseys, 3/4 bibs and bib tights, mostly larger sizes but some smalls.

A few jackets in each style and size, the Ventile is cut quite oddly though, the small was roomy around my flabby belly but tight on the shoulders and short on the arms (normally where I'm swamped), and the medium just looked huge on me.

Plenty of chinos, trousers, and jeans in larger sizes, and quite a few shorts.

Tonnes of large and XL t-shirts, polos, and knitwear.

Women's selection has quite a few merino and lambswool dresses which looked pretty awesome if you're into those, and quite a few l/s base layers.

I chatted to the guys who said there's more to go out today, but it's more of the same stuff.

  • Sorry @NurseHolliday - didn't see your question til now.

Hmm, doesn't sound as good as the last one. Maybe the Mancs got all the best stuff first.

Did you guys get yourselves anything?! :/

  • I got a good haul, thanks.

Shorts, 2 l/s jerseys, l/s merino base layer, and chinos.

Been wearing the shorts non stop and wore the jersey today out on a ride. Happy with all of it, and just £12o.

Not allowed to buy any trainers any more though.

  • £19.95 off all merino at the moment (£9 vests!), re-issuing tshirts to celebrate being old, free totes or something when you spend some other amount of money...

  • ^ all gone, vest would've been great. Guess a few will be on eBay shortly :/

  • Erm.. stay the fuck away from the slipstream jerseys. Just saying.

  • I wore my long sleeve one once. No need to again.

  • What's wrong with it? I like my SS Slipstream. You wanting to get rid?

  • I've one, the fit is spot on but rides up my back which is really annoying. Also a bit boil in the bag

  • I used to love Howies gear but they've gone off the boil lately... had a Slate River jacket for years until it fell apart, they need to make it again dammit!!!!

  • Aren't they a different company though? The original couple retired/sold on the business a few years back, not sure its quite the same anymore, though TBF I haven't bought anything from them in 2 years

  • They made a big deal of buying the company back, from Timberland I believe, but it was never made clear exactly who was buying it back. I remember tweeting them at the time to ask. Don't think I got a reply.

  • I've got the SS & LS Slipstreams and the other SS jersey with the stripes. All fit differently, which is a bit frustrating. The LS is the best fit and stays put (is in fact my favourite of all jerseys), while the others are too tight & rides up and too loose and hot respectively.

Nice enough kit but no consistency.
