  • been a long time since anyone posted in here! built a separate track bike at seabass cycles and swapped wheelsets as i'm tired of changing over cogs and bars on my silly tarck biek all the time (not that i end up getting to track very often....).

so i've now ended up with these two:

the dolan i managed to build super cheap and very quickly which, as i'm not very fast at track and not bothered about getting much faster, were my only real stipulations! have since sorted the bars but not got any pedals, oops.

i still also have the super practical fuji track kindly donated by laner (which i built up with straps, full mudguards, a brake and a basket) and learning very slowly how to work the gears on the caadx.

  • I'm building up this for my miss: http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/265775/

Whether it will fit is touch and go... Wheels should be coming soon so can do a fit and find out. May be passing the frame on if it doesn't!

  • So I built up this, going to fiddle around a bit to see how low it can get and still be road comfy (but the stem won't do down more...)

And going to fix rear wheel bearings, then build up a frame that's a bit too, eh, big but it's also from my fav frame builder. The above won't last well once damp weather + salt returns, not kind to chrome.

  • BTW anybody else notice there's the Youtube vids, and then there's the "hahaha you've tiny hands&arms cos you're a woman, good luck getting the wheel cones/cranks/etc off"

  • no? wat is dis?

  • Should've been clearer :)

Every time I watch the Youtube vids, there's the theory of "look how easy it is", somebody just loosens it. Practice is me having to pull out all the tricks to loosen parts.

Such as: Putting books under one cone spanner, cos holding it hurts, then putting the wheel in the corner and going max force with the wrench.

Just wondering if it's the forearm strength/weight difference (mass helps with generating torque) or whether everybody has that problem and the videos are just for ideal situations :)

  • ha, i wish i could cite weight difference being the reason i sometimes ask the mechanic at my lbs to mega tighten up track nuts or bolts for me to be ultra safe but we're about the same size. i think he's just more hench and has a lot of practice of doing it!

  • Remember smaller/ lighter riders will but less torque down!

Will likely be selling this on as it's too big :( brand spanking new!
    Would suit someone 5ft5-8.
650c wheelsets can be had for cheaps; one practically new here.
And the frameset is a bargain at £40!
Will post listing in a couple days.
    Make my project yours!
