Hah, I was actually referring to the Alfa in the lead as the Volvo shed a wheel...

The GTV? Also known as "the tea bag" on account of it's ability to rust if someone walked past it with a bottle of water...

I'd be interested in the details of the s2000...

one of the brake cylinders in the bias box let go. it was a brand new bit, supplied by alfaholics, who organised the track day - hawkward.
tbf - they were pretty good and spend hours trying to fix it.

Just about to get a full set of Sport Contact 5s and 4 wheel alignment/tracking etc. I'm sure everyone's got a favourite tyre but enough people have raved about the Conti's to convince me and Evo like them, plus a decent garage near me said they'd match Black Circles price. Driving to Liverpool this weekend so that'll be a good first test.

For someone after an integrale you seem to make a few disparaging remarks about other italian cars.
Drive a gtv, and then you will understand. Drive an alfasud and then you will understand. It is like a higher state of being.

I had them on the Merc when it had 15 inch wheels on - they were very good tyres.

Has anyone got an experience of going from naff tyres to good ones, and what were the most striking differences?
-
• #23068
Improved cornering, less wheel spin and betterfuel economy.
-
• #23069
I have in the mini. Biggest difference I felt was cornering in the wet. Massive difference!

Think mine Sport Contact 2 all round.
Be sure to get rim protector.
Creates shadow gap that sits wheels well...
Not that you will curb it. B-)

The Brockley Express is back on the road!!! Apart from the cackhanded race engineer installing the cork seals on the main caps incorrectly (it pissed oil and had to come out again), it has gone to plan.
It's really hard to stay under 4k - I just want to hammer it. It is pretty lumpy, but nothing that is too much of a pita and it feels so much quicker. Sounds boss too.
I am really fucking excited!

Is this still the B series or did you do an Zetec swap?
-
• #23073
B series. I decided that I really wanted to build the engine myself. I enjoyed it and am quite proud of myself for doing it, but in hindsight the Zetec would probably have been quicker to finish , cheaper and faster.
...until I wanted throttle bodies, engine management etc.

Hang on, why u pissin about under 4k, isn't the best way run it in to let it warm up then rag the back doors off it?
Was riding around Donnington Park area earlier- one of these passed me in full racing livery.
I nearly crashed. Love them.
